Martin Very happy it was my turn to present the award to the Koltzs tonight. It was my honor to do that. Skarbek Congratulations to Bill & BJ. Having people step up and be good neighbors make this a great place. Thanks to the DPW for keeping the city alive and looking good. Have a good night. Blair Congratulations to Bill &BJ. Great happening. I’m sure it was a long time coming. The Great Gatsby event was a blast again. The Flaming Grille is having a fundraiser for the Seniors All- Night Party Feb. 19th. Have a great night. Gillis Thank to the Koltzs. I’m proud to have you as my neighbor, too. The Great Gatsby was Friday night. It was a lot of fun but the best part was the party-goers, those people who paid to come and enjoy, helped up flip the Lions Hall and get it back to normal in about 15 minutes! Without their help it would have taken our handful of volunteers a couple of hours. 2.18.2020 CC Minutes 3 There is a magic show coming up on March 21 st as a fundraiser to fight human trafficking. Starts at 5:30 Bembas I wanted to add my congratulations to Bill Koltz. I worked with him for many years in the Lions club. He is the only person – in the history of the Lions club – to be president twice. Bill is always the first one in and last to go at any event. He has been a big part of keeping the Lions Hall together all these years. He is always available and always helpful. As a reminder, the Brownies are still collecting bottle caps to turn in for benches. Some of those benches will go in Lions Field. Congratulations to Rob Shelton for winning the best dressed prize at the Gatsby event and for being promoted to Lieutenant on the Algonac Fire Dept. On Feb. 19th First Lutheran is having a free pulled pork sandwich dinner. Stoneburner Trinity United Methodist is having a flea market on 2.29.20 from 9-2. The Kids in Distress group are still looking for items. Just drop your items in the drop box. Since the last meeting when commissioner Gratopp announced the new county park, if you haven’t seen the mock up, check out the Voice and Times Herald so you can see the preliminary plans. I’m very excited we’ll have something like this down at this end of the county. The Koltzs. Great family. One of the things I thought about while you were getting your award. We’ve had people of all ages getting awards – people who have been here for years and years and some people have only been here a short while; school age children to senior citizens all being part of that – that makes us so strong, that makes us a much stronger community. I’m proud to live here, I’ve said that over and over. It doesn’t take just a few people to make this a wonderful area, its cleaning up, helping with a crisis in the community or with sandbags -it’s a wonderful thing to have people come together to make this a great community. Adjournment Motion by Blair; supported by Bembas to adjourn the meeting at 7:25 p.m. Signed__________________________; respectfully submitted_____________ Mayor Terry L. Stoneburner City Clerk Sam Boelke 2.18.2020 CC Minutes 4
