Call to Order Mayor Stoneburner called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Roll Call Present: Bembas, Blair, Gillis, Harris, Martin, Skarbek, Stoneburner Absent: None Others: City Manager Denice Gerstenberg; City Clerk Sam Boelke, Fire Chief Joe Doan, Emily Pauling, Stephanie Smith Moment of Silent Prayer Mayor Stoneburner called for a moment of silent prayer. Pledge of Allegiance Mayor Stoneburner led the Pledge of Allegiance. Approve Agenda Motion by Gillis; supported by Skarbek to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried. City Manager’s Report No city manager’s report. Consent Agenda Motion by Blair; supported by Martin to approve the consent agenda as presented. Motion carried. Roll Call Ayes: Gillis, Harris, Martin, Skarbek, Stoneburner, Bembas, Blair Nays: None Unfinished Business None New Business To adopt Resolution 2021-01 for 2021 poverty exemptions. Motion by Gillis; supported by Blair to adopt Resolution #2021-01 for 2021 Poverty Exemptions and direct the City Clerk to sign the resolution on behalf of the city. Motion carried. Roll Call Ayes: Harris, Martin, Skarbek, Stoneburner, Bembas, Blair, Gillis Nays: None To approve written findings of fact and orders of demolition for 144 Channelsyde, 204 St. Clair River Drive, 1813 St. Clair River Drive and 1830 St. Clair River Drive. Motion by Bembas; supported by Martin to approve the Written Findings of Fact and Order of Demolition for 144 Channelsyde, 204 St. Clair River Drive, 1813 St. Clair River Drive and 1830 St. Clair River Drive as presented and direct the city attorney to take such legal action as necessary to carry out the terms and provisions of the orders. Motion carried. I hope its not as difficult as the last one. Blair Happy New Year everyone. I hope everyone had a great holiday season. Spring is just around the corner! The COVID will be gone soon and I look forward to the day when we can meet in person again. Gillis Happy New Year. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season. I want to mention that Henry’s Club is opening a free sled library at the Lion’s Field Sled hill. The sleds are available for anyone to use and Henry’s Club will keep them in good repair. Thanks to Jake Skarbek for the donation of the sleds. Bembas I have a couple questions from the meeting. Question #1 – when will we be able to resume face-to-face meetings? Mayor Stoneburner answered that the current order expires on March 31, 2021 so it might not be until then. The current pause is due to expire next week, so watch for an announcement from the governor. Question #2 – It’s never too early to think about water levels. Do we have an idea on where the levels will be next year? Mayor Stoneburner answered she will speak with Justin Westmiller, St. Clair County Emergency Manager about coming to talk to update us but the current thinking is water levels will be down 12-14 inches from the highest point last year. Stoneburner Condolences to Lori Warner and her family on the loss of their father. Special thanks to everyone who worked to make this Christmas a little brighter for everyone else.
