Informational Update City Manager Denice Gerstenberg gave a brief update, stating that the DDA continues to be in existence and meets as required by the State of Michigan. Gerstenberg, City Manager Summary The Downtown Development Authority was created, per Ordinance No. 2002-1 in accordance with the requirements of Act 197 of the Public Acts of 1975, as amended. The mission of the DDA, in part, is to correct and prevent deterioration within the business district; to promote economic growth and revitalization; to encourage commercial revitalization; to authorize the acquisition and disposal of interests in real and personal property; and to authorize the issuance of bonds and use the tax increment financing for the accomplishment of specific downtown development activities contained in locally-adopted development plans. In 2012, this Authority became inactive but remains in existence for all intents and purposes.
