You should then join into the meeting 10 minutes prior to its start time. Ms. Rivadeneyra will announce to you when it is your time to speak. You will have five minutes to speak, unless that time is adjusted by the President. As an alternative you can e-mail your comments by sending them to kelsey@cityofalhambra.org no later than 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday October 19, 2022 to ensure that it will be printed prior to the beginning of the meeting. Comments will then be read into the record, with a maximum allowance of 5 minutes per individual comment, subject to the President’s discretion. If a comment is received after 5:00 P.M. but before the conclusion of the meeting based on its time stamp, the comment will still be included as a part of the record of the meeting but will not be read into the record. The regular meeting of the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission was called to order at 7:02 P.M. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Alhambra City Hall, 111 South First Street Alhambra, via Video Conference Zoom. ROLL CALL Committee Members Present: Vice President Saunders, Commission Member Hermano, and Commission Member Massaro. Committee Members Absent: President Canseco-Chan and Commission Member Jimenez. Also attending: Director Macias, Deputy Director Brie Houghton, Recreation Supervisor Amanda Leonard and Clerical Assistant II Kelsey Rivadeneyra. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 17, 2022 REGULAR C.A.C.E. MEETING With a motion from Commission Member Hermano and a second by Commission Member Massaro, the minutes from the August 17, 2022 regular meeting were approved. ALHAMBRA DISTRICT ART PROJECTS The City Arts and Cultural Events Commission discussed possible Alhambra District Art Project locations and concepts from their one-on-one meetings with City Council. Mayor Maloney and Commission Member Hermano discussed displaying a mural or sculpture at the Burke Heritage Park. Council Member Pérez and Vice President Saunders are undecided on their location and concept as they recently were informed that their chosen location will be under construction for the next two years. Councilmember Lee and Commission Member Massaro are looking into a mural created by the Academy of Special Dreams at the Alhambra Renaissance theatre. STAFF REPORT Deputy Director Houghton invited the Commission to attend the upcoming City of Alhambra fall/winter family events; Autumn Fest on October 8, 2022 at Alhambra Park and the Annual Pumpkin Run at Main Street and Second Street on October 30, 2022.
