CITY OF ALHAMBRA NOTICE OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE ALHAMBRA CITY ARTS AND CULTURAL EVENTS COMMISSION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the regular meeting of the City Arts and Cultural Events Committee Meeting will be held on Wednesday January 18, 2023, commencing at 7:00 P.M. at Alhambra City Hall 111 South First Street, Alhambra, California via video conference. CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) ADVISORY NOTICE Consistent with AB 361, the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission meeting will not be physically open to the public, although the public may participate by video conference or teleconference and all Commission members will participate via video conference or teleconference rather than attend in person. Addressing the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission: Via Zoom or Telephone: “Raise your hand” - Members of the public may speak by using the “Raise Hand” function during the public comments portion, if on Zoom or telephone. Staff will unmute speakers participating via Zoom or telephone and announce your name when it is your time to speak. Remarks are limited to 5 minutes; however, the presiding officer may either extend or reduce the maximum time to such period of time as the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission may determine. For those wishing to speak on an agenda item, please e-mail Kelsey Rivadeneyra at kelsey@cityofalhambra.org prior to the meeting with the item number you wish to speak on and your name. You should then join into the meeting 10 minutes prior to its start time. Ms. Rivadeneyra will announce to you when it is your time to speak. You will have five minutes to speak, unless that time is adjusted by the President. As an alternative you can e-mail your comments by sending them to kelsey@cityofalhambra.org no later than 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday January 18, 2023 to ensure that it will be printed prior to the beginning of the meeting. Comments will then be read into the record, with a maximum allowance of 5 minutes per individual comment, subject to the President’s discretion. If a comment is received after 5:00 P.M. but before the conclusion of the meeting based on its time stamp, the comment will still be included as a part of the record of the meeting but will not be read into the record. Any member of the public who needs accommodations or who needs their comments translated should e-mail or call Kelsey Rivadeneyra at kelsey@cityofalhambra.org or (626) 570-5044 who will use their best efforts to provide reasonable accommodations to provide as much accessibility as possible while also maintaining public safety. Unofficial until adopted by the December 21, 2022 City Arts and Cultural Events Commission Action Item III APPROVE MINUTES ALHAMBRA CITY ARTS AND CULTURAL EVENTS COMMISSION Wednesday, November 16, 2022 7:00 P.M. The regular meeting of the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission was called to order at 7:02 P.M. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Alhambra City Hall, 111 South First Street Alhambra, via Video Conference Zoom. ROLL CALL Committee Members Present: President Canseco-Chan, Vice President Saunders, and Commission Member Hermano. Committee Members Absent: Commission Member Jimenez and Commission Member Massaro. Also attending: Director Macias, Deputy Director Brie Houghton, Recreation Supervisor Amanda Leonard and Clerical Assistant II Kelsey Rivadeneyra. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 19, 2022, REGULAR C.A.C.E. MEETING With a motion from Vice President Saunders and a second by President Canseco Chan, the minutes from the October 19, 2022, regular meeting were approved. ALHAMBRA DISTRICT ART PROJECTS Commission Member Hermano and Council Member Maloney collaborated on a Facebook survey and asked the community for mural concepts and suggestions for their District 3’s art project at Burke Heritage Park. Commission Member Hermano has also connected with Alhambra and Mark Keppel High School and will co create the mural together. STAFF REPORT Deputy Director Houghton invited the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission and their families to visit Alhambra’s Holiday Village event held on December 11th in conjunction with the Alhambra Farmer’s Market. Deputy Director Houghton also invited the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission to participate as judges for the upcoming Holiday Home Decorating Contest and volunteers for the 2023 City of Alhambra Tournament of Roses Parade float decoration dates. With a motion from President Canseco Chan and a second by Commission Member Hermano, Dolores Bobadilla and Sandra Valles were approved for art exhibitions in 2023. PUBLIC COMMUNICATION None. ADJOURNMENT With a motion by Commission Member Hermano and seconded by Vice President Saunders, the November 16, 2022 City Arts and Cultural Events Commission meeting was adjourned at 7:23 P.M.
