The regular meeting of the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission was called to order at 7:04 P.M. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Alhambra City Hall, 111 South First Street Alhambra, Conference Room “A”. ROLL CALL Committee Members Present: President Canseco, Vice President Saunders, Commission Member Hermano, and Commission Member Massaro. Committee Members Absent: Commission Member Jimenez Also attending: Director Macias, Deputy Director Brie Houghton, Recreation Supervisor Amanda Leonard and Clerical Assistant II Kelsey Rivadeneyra. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE MARCH 15, 2023 REGULAR C.A.C.E. MEETING With a motion from Vice President Saunders and a second by Commission Member Hermano, the minutes from the March 15, 2023 regular meeting were approved. ALHAMBRA DISTRICT ART PROJECTS President Canseco will return to the next meeting with kinetic wind structure estimates renderings. Vice President Saunders, Commission Member Hermano, and Commission Member Massaro are still exploring concepts and locations. STAFF REPORT Director Macias presented three renderings of Alhambra’s possible 2024 Tournament of Roses Parade Float design and the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission collectively agreed to move forward with the rendering titled “Dragon Music” as it would be best appropriate for the 2024 Chinese New Year of the Dragon. The City Arts and Cultural Events Commission recommended revisions to the rendering that included an addition of clouds, instruments, musical elements, and a larger Earth. Director Macias will bring a revised rendering in May for a Special City Arts and Cultural Events Commission meeting. Recreation Supervisor Leonard invited the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission and their families to attend Arbor Day and Eco Fair. PUBLIC COMMUNICATION None. COMMITTEE COMMUNICATION President Canseco reminded Commission members to complete their ethics training sent by City Clerk. ADJOURNMENT With a motion by Commission Member Hermano and seconded by Vice President Saunders, the April 19, 2023 City Arts and Cultural Events Commission meeting was adjourned at 7:40 P.M.
