The regular meeting of the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission was called to order at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Alhambra City Hall, 111 South First Street Alhambra, Conference Room “A”. ROLL CALL Commission Members Present: President Canseco, Vice President Saunders, Commission Member Hermano, Commission Member Longoria, and Commission Member Massaro. Commission Members Absent: None. Also attending: Director Macias, Deputy Director Brie Houghton, Recreation Supervisor Amanda Leonard and Clerical Assistant II Kelsey Rivadeneyra. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 15, 2023 REGULAR C.A.C.E. MEETING With a motion from Vice President Saunders and a second from Commission Member Hermano the November 15, 2023 minutes were approved. ALHAMBRA DISTRICT ART PROJECTS Commission Member Longoria identified five utility boxes, received art wrap quotes and awaiting response from Utilities Director Martin Ray on a list of available City owned utility boxes. President Canseco, Vice President Saunders, Commission Member Hermano and Commission Member Massaro will return with detailed quotes at the next City Arts and Cultural Events Commission meeting. STAFF REPORT Recreation Supervisor Leonard thanked the City Arts and Cultural Events Commissioners for participating in decorating Alhambra’s float entry for the 2024 Tournament of Roses Parade and shared that the City of Alhambra won the “2024 Tournament of Roses Parade Fantasy Float” award. Recreation Supervisor Leonard invited the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission and their families to attend the upcoming Lunar New Year event on February 18th and the Peeps and Petals event on March 23rd at Alhambra Park. With a motion from Commission Member Longoria and a second from Vice President Saunders, John Kenan and Vivian De Soto were approved and Joan Whitmore conditionally approved pending review of samples for the 2024 Alhambra City Hall Lobby Art Gallery. ADJOURNMENT With a motion by President Canseco and a second by Commission Member Hermano, the January 17, 2024 City Arts and Cultural Events Commission meeting was adjourned at 7:17 P.M.
