Unofficial until adopted by the November 20, 2024 City Arts and Cultural Events Commission Action Item III APPROVE MINUTES ALHAMBRA CITY ARTS AND CULTURAL EVENTS COMMISSION Wednesday, September 18, 2024 7:00 P.M. The regular meeting of the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission was called to order at 7:03 P.M. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Alhambra City Hall, 111 South First Street Alhambra, Conference Room “A”. ROLL CALL Commission Members Present: President Canseco, Vice President Saunders, Commission Member Hermano, Commission Member Longoria and Commission Member Massaro. Commission Members Absent: None. Also attending: Deputy Director Brie Houghton, Recreation Supervisor Amanda Leonard and Clerical Assistant II Kelsey Rivadeneyra. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE JUNE 19, 2024 REGULAR C.A.C.E. MEETING With a motion from Vice President Saunders and a second from Commission Member Longoria the June 19, 2024 minutes were approved. ALHAMBRA DISTRICT ART PROJECTS Commission Member Longoria and the Alhambra Historical Society board will collaborate and use historical Alhambra images and postcards for utility box wrap art throughout Alhambra. All other City Arts and Cultural Events Commission members declined to provide an update on their Alhambra District Art project. STAFF REPORT Recreation Supervisor Amanda Leonard shared that Fiesta Alhambra was a successful event with large attendance of all ages and invited the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission to attend the upcoming Safety Fair, Autumn Fest, and Pumpkin Run events with their families. Director Macias updated the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission with the 2025 Alhambra Tournament of Roses Parade float campaign timeline and design rendering. PUBLIC COMMUNICATION Haley Hua, representing Mark Keppel High School Tri -M (Music Honor Society), shared a proposed utility box art rendering to the City Arts and Cultural Events Commission and they advised with recommendations and the public art project approval process. COMMITTEE COMMUNICATION Commission Member Longoria asked if a Dia de Los Muertos community ofrenda (altar) could be set up at Alhambra City Hall and Vice President Saunders suggested organizing it as an installation at the Alhambra Historical Museum. ADJOURNMENT With a motion by President Canseco and a second by Vice President Saunders, the September 18, 2024 City Arts and Cultural Events Commission meeting was adjourned at 7:27 P.M.
