AMBLER BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING Minutes June 17, 2025 7:00 PM I. CALL TO ORDER President Glynnis Siskind called the Ambler Borough Council meeting of June 17th , 2025, to order at 7:00 p.m. II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Mayor Jeanne Sorg led the pledge of allegiance. III. ROLL CALL Present at the meeting were: Ms. Siskind, Ms. Sheedy, Ms. Henderson, Ms. Hughes Kelly, Ms. Roecker Coates, Ms. Iovine, Mr. Orehek, Mr. Hui, and Mr. Brubaker, Police Chief Jeff Borkowski, Borough Manager Kyle Detweiler, and Solicitor Breslin. • Ms. Siskind called for a vote to amend the evening’s agenda to reflect the need to vote on the Consent and Order Agreement required by the DEP to make necessary repairs to the water filtration system. • The vote was taken. All AYE – 0 IV. Mayor’s Moment – Proclamation Recognizing: Bill Baker, Scott McCalla and David Morgan V. CITIZENS’ COMMENTS- AGENDA ITEMS ONLY Anthony Gianetti, 16 Center Street had comments regarding the possibility of the project and correlations between the existing building and the Comprehensive plan encouraging industrial revitalization. He cautioned any Zoning change. Erica Garvey 213 Locust Street cautioned that the water situation in the area is a real problem, there are flooding issues. She supports the Sports Academy stating as is. Aleah Conlin 203 Locust Street seconded everything that was said prior. Tyler DePatri General Manager at 220 S. Chestnut Street echoed that the Sports Academy is an awesome place, a community place for children to go and to make connections. VI. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING The Minutes of the May 20th Committee Meeting were approved 9-AYE.  VII. CONFIRMED APPOINTMENTS – James Kniele & Andrew Stoll – 220 S. Chestnut Street presented the sketch plan describing development possibilities for the above noted address. Discussion ensued. Ms. Siskind thanked AMS for another successful event with Art and Music Fest last weekend. VIII. FINANCE DIRECTOR’S REPORT A written report was submitted for the record. IX. POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT A written report was submitted for the record. X. FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT A written report was submitted for the record. XI. EMS REPORT A written report was submitted for the record. XII. INTER-DEPARTMENT REPORTS A. Public Works Department A written report was submitted for the record. B. Water & Highway Department Reports A written report was submitted for the record. C. Wastewater Treatment Plant Report A written report was submitted for the record. D. Code Enforcement Report A written report was submitted for the record. Ms. Iovine asked for and explanation of the status of the number of “awaiting hearing dates” listed in the report. Mr. Kucher explained the process. E. Manager’s Report- Kyle Detweiler A written report was submitted for the record. Mr. Detweiler first thanked Liz and AMS for the Art and Music Fest production last weekend. Ms. Roecker Coates complimented Public Works on the improvements to the Wahl playground. Mr. Orehek asked if there was a schedule for paving. Mr. Pagano offered the reason for certain pavements taking precedent over others. Traffic calming is being discussed. XIII PROFESSIONAL CONSULTANTS’ REPORTS A. Engineer’s Report A written report was submitted for the record. B. Wastewater Treatment Plant Engineer’s Report A written report was submitted for the record. C. Solicitor’s Report Resolution 2025 - 6 The Execution of Consent Order to the DEP was introduced and voted on. Carried 9-AYE. A. COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS: A. Finance & Planning Committee – Elizabeth Iovine, Chair 1. Motion to authorize payment of all bills as presented for May 2025 in the amount of $570,739.14. Carried 9-AYE. B. Public Safety Committee – Amy Hughes Kelly, Chair. 1. Motion to award Butler Pike traffic calming contract to Blooming Glenn Contractors. Carried 9-AYE. 2. Motion to award contract for street striping to Zone Striping Inc. Carried 9-AYE. C. Public Utilities Committee – Karen Sheedy, Chair. 1. Motion to award the Farm Lane & Schiavone Water main replacement to Caddick Utilities. Carried 9-AYE D. Parks & Recreation Committee – Jennifer Henderson, Chair. Salary and Personnel Committee considered no motions. E. Salary and Personnel Committee – Glynnis Siskind, Chair. Salary and Personnel Committee considered no motions. B. OTHER BUSINESS C. CITIZENS’ COMMENTS Aleaha Conlin 203 S. Locust. St. Jean Thompson Park trees are obstructing the sidewalk. Mr. Detweiler noted that the Borough is aware of the problem. Erica Garvey 213 Locust expressed a need for a trash can at the park (Jean Thompson) and the basketball court needs a paint touch up. Mr. Detweiler remarked that we will check on the issues. Lindsey Daku 122 Greenwood Ave. asked about the health of the trees in Wahl Park. Mr. Detweiler explained which trees were unhealthy and the plan moving forward. She made a statement regarding the Borough the PD and I.C.E. protocol. Ms. Siskind made the motion to Adjourn the meeting at 8:45. Carried 9-AYE D. ADJOURNMENT
