ARTS, PARKS, & RECREATION COMMITTEE PROCEEDINGS October 24, 2023 The Amery Arts, Parks, and Rec. Committee met on October 24, 2023, at the Amery City Center. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. Present: Members Tommy Dusek, Joyce Schaefer, Colleen Adams, and Denise Johnson. Others Present: Deputy Clerk-Treasurer, Taylor Larson 1. Approval of Minutes from September 12, 2023. Motion by Schaefer; seconded by Adams; to approve the minutes as with the correction in section two stating that Bermann’s supplied and will supply the ground pots and Dragonfly Gardens will do the hanging pots. Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion Carried. Old Business 2. Splashpad Planning Discussion – It was discussed that the committee will need to know if the DNR will allow a splash pad near South Twin Lake and what the setbacks would be before the committee can decide on a footprint. Johnson brought a book from Landscape Structures with potential splash pads. Zoning will be asked to check setbacks. Joyce will contact Joanne Jackson to see if any of her pool information would translate to a splash pad. 3. Discussion of City Murals – Chair Dusek spoke with David Markson, the original artist for the mural on Apple River TV. Markson said he would need to look at the mural and could provide a quote for repair, but that has not happened yet. New Business 4. Discussion of Park Needs – Picnic Tables – The tables that are taken from the parks to town events are in poor condition. Johnson provided pictures to show some of the tables that were at Fall Festival that had chipped paint and warped boards.
