DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE By City Clerk at 9:54 am, Sep 08, 2022 TUESDAY, JULY 19, 2022 1. Call to Order at 6:05 pm Roll Call – Members present: Rachel Harris, Matt Sherrill. Nipun Jain staff. 2. Minutes – Rachel made a motion to approve the draft minutes for 6-21-2022 as presented. Matt seconded. Approved unanimously. 3. Public Comments – None 4. Communications – None 5. New Applications a. Sign Permit Application: 33 & 35 Main Street: Outrider Beer Company Wall – Projecting Sign: The Applicant presented the application. Existing bracket will be used. DRC members were concerned about the existing light fixtures that are broken and the floodlights typically shine in the eyes when pe- destrians look up. The Applicant indicated that those lights will be either re- moved or replaced with different lights. Matt recommended that goose necks should be considered as they shine down and are also in keeping with the char- acter of the Main Street. There is also street lighting along the sidewalk and it was suggested by DRC that the applicant may consider no lighting if possible. It was not clear if the wire running along the bracket was going to be used for lighting or not. The applicant indicated that they will re-visit the lighting and revise the application accordingly. The overall design of the sign was dis- cussed. It was suggested that instead of the chain-link loops to hang the sign, a more sturdy metal should be used to hold the sign firmly in windy conditions. The sign is not carved and the letters will be painted on the sign material. The applicant also agreed to simplify the sign will a neutral background such as an off-white base with just the black letters. Wall- mounted triangular sign: This applicant explained the construction of the sign. It will be made of plexi glass that will be held in place by a metal frame. It will be lit by LED light strip that will sit in a built in cove within the sign frame. DRC suggested that the applicant provide more details on the frame, lighting and installation technique. They also asked for additional sign installa- tion details as it is not very clear from the application materials presented for review. The applicant indicated that they will provide additional details and submit more information for the next DRC meeting.
