Other Business - East End Smart Growth Overlay District – Design Standards update The final draft documents were reviewed. The minor edits discussed at the previ- ous DRC meeting had been incorporated. Also present were Joe and Carol Finn and Alex Loth. The were questions and comments from the members from the public that were in attendance at the meeting. The meaning of the word “historic” was discussed and if further definition was re- quired. It was decided to not further clarify and let the “structure over 75 years of age” defined in other areas of the bylaws be the standard. The question of whether these smart growth design standards could be required for existing buildings was brought up, but it was decided that it would be an excessively high standard. Some minor clarification in wording was requested in the “Building Massing” section. We decided not remove standards from the existing smart growth bylaw. We added wording to the “window opening” section to allow more flexibility. Also, an image demonstrating what a “pork chop” eave is was added to the style guide. The Planning Director also laid out the next steps in the process before the EEOD zoning become final and a development application can be submitted to the Plan- ning Board. Motion to make a positive recommendation for incorporating the amend- ments to the Building Design Standards as discussed into the zoning amend- ment proposal for the East End Smart Growth Overlay District, Second by Matt.
