Minutes for Meeting—7-15-2020
4:00 PM
Location: Participants met at Alliance Park. The purpose of the meeting was to tour Amesbury’s. water
control sites. See the list below. Each person provided their own transportation to the sites on the tour,
and all participants wore masks and maintain appropriate social distancing.
Lakes and Waterways Commission Attendees; Tom Murphy (Asst. Chair), Cindy Roberts. Because a
forum was lacking, we could not take any votes.
Other Attendees: Pete Manor (City Engineer), Cassandra Gove (Mayor), Michael Jewell
(Conservation Commission Member), and Jennifer.
The tour, led by City Engineer Pete Manor, involved the following sites in this order:
1. The Mouth of the Powow
2. Clarks Pond Dam
3. The Millyard Crib Dam
4. Lake Gardner Dam
5. The Weir
6. Tuxbury Pond Dam
7. Stateline Dam
8. Archbrook Culvert
9. Birches Dam
At each location Pete explained the purpose of the structure and the part it played in Amesbury’s
ecology, recreation opportunities, flood control,and water supply. Pete also answered participants’
questions, explaining the history, mechanisms, procedures, and legal requirements. Those on the tour
were thus able to observe directly, significant structures that affect the flow and retention of water in
the City of Amesbury and get sense of how they interact.
The meeting adjourned at the Birches Dam at 6:50 PM.

Each person will provide their own transportation to the sites on the tour, and all are
expected to wear masks and maintain appropriate social distancing.
The tour, led by City Engineer Pete Manor, will involve the following sites in this
order:

The tour is designed to allow participants to observe directly significant structures
that affect the flow and retention of water in the City of Amesbury and get sense of
how they interact.
