NOTICE OF MEETING AND AGENDA
11/14/24
The ECCSW will conduct a public meeting utilizing remote collaboration technology. If there is any technical
problem with our remote connection, an alternative conference line will be noticed immediately on our Facebook
page: https://www.facebook.com/EssexCountyCommissionOnTheStatusOfWomen. Pursuant to the Massachusetts
Open Meeting Law, G.L. c. 30A, §§ 18-25, notice is hereby given of a meeting of the Essex County Commission on
the Status of Women. As the recent amendments to the open meeting law allows, the (board) will continue to
hold meetings remotely. Adequate alternative access to the meeting is provided through the zoom link
below. Questions may be directed to eccswomen2@gmail.com. The meeting will take place:

(1) Legislative Committee
Legislative Priorities Status Update
1. The Common Start Bill (H.489/S.301) (universal early childcare) - pieces
passed in budget bill
2. Act Requiring One Fair Wage (S.1082/H.1617) - ballot measure on this
topic was just decidedly rejected by voters.
3. I AM Bill (An Act to Increase Access to Disposable Menstrual Products in
Prisons, Homeless Shelters, and Public Schools (S.1381/H.534) - currently
ESSEX COUNTY COMMISSION
ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN
pending in House Ways and Means. This bill already passed the Senate unanimously
and just needs to clear a House vote before it goes to the Governor’s desk.
4. An Act Supporting Working Parents Who Choose to Run for Public Office
(S.422/H.669) - The bill is currently pending in Senate Ways & Means, and if it
passes the Senate, it will need to go to the House for a vote. (Senator Lovely is a
strong supporter of the bill and remains committed towards getting this bill over the
finish line!)
5. Parity on Public Boards (S.2016) - new coalition led by MCSW - seeking
volunteer from ECCSW to serve. Current status: This bill is accompanied by
S.2029, and the bills are now pending in Senate Ways and Means. If it passes the
Senate it will need to then pass the House before it ends up in front of the Governor.
