ESSEX COUNTY COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN By City Clerk at 11:28 am, Jan 06, 2025 NOTICE OF MEETING AND AGENDA 1/9/2025 The ECCSW will conduct a public meeting utilizing remote collaboration technology. Pursuant to the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law, G.L. c. 30A, §§ 18-25, notice is hereby given of a meeting of the Essex County Commission on the Status of Women. As the recent amendments to the open meeting law allows, the (board) will continue to hold meetings remotely. Adequate alternative access to the meeting is provided through the zoom link below. Committees Updates a) Legislative Committee i. Updates from Commissioner Meetings with elected officials ii. Legislative Priorities 2025-2026 - VOTE REQUIRED Last Session Priorities: 1. The Common Start Bill (2023-2024 H.489/S.301) (universal early childcare) - pieces passed in budget bill ESSEX COUNTY COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN 2. Act Requiring One Fair Wage (2023-2024 S.1082/H.1617) - ballot measure on this topic was just decidedly rejected by voters. 3. I AM Bill (An Act to Increase Access to Disposable Menstrual Products in Prisons, Homeless Shelters, and Public Schools (2023-2024 S.1381/H.534) 4. Parity on Public Boards (2023-2024 S.2016) - new coalition led by MCSW/Regional Commissions. Will be re-filed, likely by Rep. Nguyen Discussion on potential new bills and whether to renew support for bills above if refiled. b) Program & Planning Committee (1) January - youth listening circle at Essex N. Shore Ag & Tech (2) February - reviewing community events to support for Black History Month (3) March - Women Running for Office summit in the works (4) April - Listening Circle? (5) May/June - Legislative breakfast c) Outreach/Communications Committee: (1) Survey B. Regional Chairs Meeting Update C. Commissioner appointment - if interviews are completed we will discuss the interviews and vote on selection of one application to fill the vacant seat. D. Update from Ginsburg Initiative 1.
