Open Space, Natural Resources & Trails Committee Meeting April 23, 2020, 7:00 p.m. via Zoom Present: Jonathan Sherwood, Chair, Pascal Rettig (Planning Board), Alina Michelewicz (Con Comm), Vanessa Johnson-Hall , Councilor Nicholas Wheeler, Councilor Adrienne Lennon Guests: David Heacock and Abby Hardy-Moss (Essex County Greenbelt Association); Jeanette Tozer (BSC) 1. Open Space & Recreation Plan Update – Jeanette Tozer, BSC • Community Feedback o BSC and OSNRTC conducted the online Virtual Public Forum on April 16, 2020, with approximately 15 members of the public in attendance. o 31 responses have been received to date to the related survey posted online by BSC. OSNRTC has promoted the survey online through its Facebook page, also pushed to other Amesbury-oriented Facebook pages. • Mapping and Data o BSC only needs a little bit more data for mapping and the draft report. Any requests for data from the Committee will be directed to the Chair. • OSNRTC Next Steps o Feedback on: Goals and Objectives, Action Plan, Public Input Summary, Draft Maps o BSC will provide content – including public input summary, goals/objectives, draft maps - for review by May 5, 2020 2. Presentation of Coastal Zone Management and Climate Resiliency Maps – David Heacock and Abby Hardy-Moss (Essex County Greenbelt Association) • ECGA has been providing prioritization mapping results to communities across Essex County. The maps are being developed and presented to local communities through grant and as a technical service to localities. • Amesbury Maps Presented by ECGA o Urban Cooling Prioritization o Natural Resilience Prioritization o Inland Flood Mitigation Prioritization o Drinking Water Prioritization o Coastal Flood Mitigation o Agriculture Prioritization o Habitat Prioritization • The guests responded to questions from the Committee regarding map details. • ECGA will provide the map files to BSC, for incorporation as an appendix volume in the final OSR plan. 3. Presentation to City Council • Councilor Wheeler will explore opportunities to present a summary of the OSR to the City Council, once the Plan is final 8:30 p.m. - Motion to Adjourn N Wheeler; 2nd V Johnson-Hall.
