Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes November 13, 2023 The Board of Trustees Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Dennis Siry, Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith; Trustee Michael O’Neill, Trustee Roger Smith, Trustee Owen Brooks, Jr. MEMBERS ABSENT: ALSO PRESENT: Village Attorney Bruce Kennedy APD Chief Bryan Burton AFD Chief Gavin Budde Building Inspector Michael Breitweg DPW Superintendent Bruce Hopper Clerk/Treasurer Catherine Murdock Assistant to the Mayor Wendy O’Neill Mayor Siry welcomed everyone to the Board of Trustees Meeting and invited Chief Burton to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Siry asked Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith for upcoming events, which are as follows: Amityville Library shredding event, Nov. 18th, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Masonic Lodge Pot Roast dinner, Nov. 19th at 5 p.m.; Peter J. O’Neill, Jr. 5-K on November 25th; Village Tree Lighting on December 2nd, 2023. Mayor Siry asked about the purpose of the awnings to which Mr. Madden replied they protect students of the health care school and home care agency from the elements. Trustee Brooks asked about the awning’s construction to ensure it will pass inspection; Building Inspector Breitweg reported it is a standard aluminum frame construction. Doris Reynolds, 190 Merrick Rd., Amityville then confirmed that the introductory local law relating to the formation of the Historical Preservation Commission would be among those heard. Ali Bajwa, from Ahmadiyya, a mosque at 64 Union Avenue, Amityville addressed the Board to read a statement about the war going on between Israel and Palestine.
