Storage of Trailer – New
James La Rosa Dependable Repair, Inc. 18 Ranick Drive West, Amityville NY 11701
Mayor Siry asked about the storage contents to which Mr. La Rosa replied he is storing
compressors, snowblowers, etc. He noted he has had the trailer for 30-40 years behind the building
in an industrial zone and the trailer is not that large. The Board reminded the applicant that if
approved, he would have to reapply in April because annual permits expire March 31st .

A discussion as to the length of the trailer ensued. Building Inspector Michael Breitweg explained
that Mr. Moreira claims the trailer is only 29 feet, per his vehicle registration. The Trustees asked
that he get the registration to the Building Inspector and if the trailer length is not listed on the
registration, an official measurement would be necessary to determine if a permit is needed. No vote
was taken at this time.

Vincent Rifice, 7 New Point Place, Amityville, NY 11701
Mr. Rifice was present to address questions regarding his application to store a car trailer for exotic
cars. Deputy Mayor Smith stated he feels it is too big for the property and the neighborhood. Mayor
Siry noted that the applicant also has other items being stored on the property which, he said, is not a
large parcel. The applicant disagreed, stating the property is 80 x 125 ft.
As per the photos submitted by the applicant, the trailer will be visible from the street and impede
access to the rear yard.
Mayor Siry invited any comments, noting that neighbors have submitted letters against the application.
Susan Jaycox, 25 New Point Place, spoke against the application because the trailer is too large for
the piece of property. She noted there are two boats, two jet skis, and other items on the property.
Having to view the trailer is not fair to neighbors and it should not be parked in the street, she said.
Mr. Rifice stated that he would not have the trailer in the street except when loading and unloading.

Mayor Siry explained that the introductory law enabled the Village to put in parking kiosks at the LIRR station to
replace the old coin operated parking meters. It would allow us to catch up with parking meter fees as we have
been behind the trend for many years. Both the north and south parking lots at the LIRR lot would feature the
meters. The new fees are .50 per hour.
