Anaconda-Deer Lodge County DUI Task Force Meeting Minutes 10:00 am Thursday Dec 13, 2023 rd 3 Floor Community Center Conference Room Board Members in Attendance; Ben Krakowka – ADLC County Attorney, Mike Beausoleil –ADLC Commissioner District One; Keith Lopez --LAC, Vera Hoscheid- ADLC Victim Witness Advocate, Sue Konicek—Prevention Specialist, SWMT Prevention, Debbie Robinson-- Public Health Dept. Absent: Marc Arment ADLC-- Housing Officer Members of the Public: Katie Gruss, Jaycee Jette Call To Order: County Attorney Ben Krakowka called the meeting to order at 10:05 am Approval of Minutes from Nov 9th, 2023, DUI Task Force Meeting Keith Lopez motioned to approve the minutes from Nov 9th, it was seconded by Vera Hoscheid. Motion passed unanimously. Financial Report County Attorney Ben Krakowka reported that the current balance is $24,620.57 MIP/DUI Report County Attorney Ben Krakowka updated DUI and MIP reports for February 23. 2023 DUI MIP January 12 (5 ALDC, 7MHP) 2 (MHP) February 5 (ADLC) 1 (ADLC) March 8 (ADLC) 2 (ADLC) April 1(ADLC) 15 (ADLC) May 4 ( 2ADLC) (2MHP) 3 (ADLC) June 2 (ADLC) 2(ADLC) July 4 (ADLC) 1 (ADLC) August 6 (ADLC) 1 (ADLC) Sept 2 (ADLC) 0 (ADLC) Oct 4 (ADLC) 0 Nov 1 (ADLC) Dec 1 (ADLC) TOTAL 52 (43 ADLC, 9 MHP) 27 (25 ADLC , 2MHP) Approval of the Financial and MIP/DUI reports was motioned by Vera Hoscheid and seconded by Keith Lopez. The motion passed unanimously. Unfinished Business – A. The new DUI Task Force member from MHP has not yet attended a meeting. B. DRE Training update: Marc Arment was not present to discuss the DRE training recruitment. He was absent due to a training which he was attending. C. Follow up regarding Snowball Dance: Jaycee Jette reported that ACI’s ‘casino night’ after party activity was successful and very well attended. She reported that SRO Chloe was in attendance at the dance and at the after party. New Business A. Sue Konicek discussed the idea of the DUI TF purchasing ads in the Leader with a ‘Drive sober for the holidays’ message. A vote was held to run three ads on the next three Friday editions of the Anaconda leader and spend a total of $180.00. The motion was made by Deb Robinson it was seconded by Keith Lopez. The vote passed unanimously. B. Sue Konicek discussed the fact that the DUI TF assisted with paying for Drive Sober/St. Patrick’s Day themed coasters which were distributed to local bars in 2023. She explained that the bars really appreciated them and they seemed to get attention. A total of 1000 coasters were purchased and distributed last year. There was discussion about having a contest for kids to submit designs. It was decided that might be a good idea for next year as contests take some time to implement. Keith Lopez made a motion to spend $500 in DUI TF funds to help purchase St. Patrick’s Day Coasters for 2024. Seconded by Deb Robinson. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Krakowka suggested tying the green color into a message regarding driving and marijuana use. C. Sue Konicek presented a design for a sticker to distribute to local businesses who support prevention. Mr. Krakowka suggested that additional stickers with specific prevention projects (such as “Coffee with a Cop” or “Red Ribbon Week”) also be made in order that businesses can display each event to which they contributed. It was agreed that this is a good idea to pursue further. Miscellaneous Announcements – A. A card thanking Sergeant Oliverson for his work on the DUI Task Force was signed by all present. B. Mr. Krakowka and Keith Lopez answered some questions about the efficacy of Family Drug Court in Butte. They explained that is very effective, however this is determined by how well it is implemented by the presiding judge. They informed the group that Judge Krueger who presides over the Drug court in Butte will not be seeking reelection. Public Comments – No public comment Next Meeting The next meeting is scheduled for Jan 11 2024 Adjournment Keith Lopez moved to adjourn the meeting it was seconded by Vera Hoscheid. Motion passed unanimously.
