Andover YMCA Community Center Advisory Commission Meeting Minutes Thursday, February 16, 2017 Andover City Hall In Attendance: Tony Peterson, Tony Howard, Ted Butler, Val Holthus, Allison Boes, Frank Kellogg, Don Schmeichel and Erick Sutherland Additional: Jim Dickenson, Ted Butler called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm The board welcomed Don Schmeichel to commission. Agenda Approval Approved as written Approval of Minutes Motion by Tony Peterson, Second by Val Holthus, to approve the minutes as written. Motion carried unanimously. Appoint Chair Motion by Tony Peterson, Second by Val Holthus, to table the board appointments until the next meeting. Motion carried unanimously. Discuss Community Survey The City of Andover is looking for input from the ACC Advisory Commission for the city wide survey it will be conducting in April/May. In addition to this scheduled meeting, the Advisory Commission will be meeting with the Park Commission to review survey questions as a group. Val felt the survey was too long. She suggested we ask the group in charge of the survey what’s average for total questions. Also, how many responses are they looking for? Ted suggested there is confusion on what YMCA is and what’s City. There should be a short paragraph that helps explain what’s what at the facility, help ensure the public understands. Don asked what’s the overall goal of the survey, and how can we compare past surveys to this one. Do we see any trends or do things appear to be better or worse compared to earlier surveys. Jim followed up on what the overall goals of the survey would be that it’s an educational piece for the council to help for planning and future discussions. Jim also got into what some other parts of the survey will ask that are not related to the ACC/YMCA. Ted asked that the commission have a chance to review the survey before it gets started. Jim said he would get a copy of the final survey to the commission prior to calls being made. Andover YMCA Community Center Advisory Commission Minutes February 16, 2017 Motion by Val Holthus, Second by Allison Boes, to close the meeting at 6:55pm.
