Andover YMCA Community Center Advisory Commission Meeting Minutes Monday, October 9, 2017 Andover YMCA Community Center In Attendance: Ted Butler, Allison Boes, Frank Kellogg, and Don Schmeichel Additional: Erick Sutherland Absent: Tony Howard, Tony Peterson, Val Holthus Frank Kellogg called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm Agenda Approval Approved as written Approval of Minutes Minutes are tabled, moved to November 2017 for approval. RFP Update Erick updated the committee on the RFP process for possible Community Center expansion. Several architect firms have been in for tours as they work on their proposals. Proposals are due back to the city by the end of the month. City staff will review the proposals and set up interviews starting mid-November. Ted Butler talked about the future of purple park. The park commission is following the possible expansion project and how that could lead to the possible relocation of purple park. City staff will keep the Advisory Commission updated on the RFP process. Program Updates Tabled, bring back to Nov. meeting. Look for ways to help make a case for expansion due to the lack of space/time we have. How many hours could be sold, what customers can we work with, what would the revenues look like. AHYHA Updated Tabled, will bring back to Nov. meeting. YMCA Update Allison has an opportunity to attend a meeting with Jim from the COA and Anita with the YMCA. The Andover YMCA plans to present a scope of work to outline their specific expansion needs sometime soon. In addition, Anita asked to be updated on the RFP discussions, Allison indicated she would take care of that. Andover YMCA Community Center Advisory Commission Minutes October 9, 2017 Frank spoke of setting up a meeting with Jim and the CEO of the YMCA. Use the meeting to talk about all the positive things that are happening in the current facility and how that information can be shared with the community and used to promote an expansion. Allison talked about the very successful golf tournament they help in September. 100+ participants attended the event. ACC Update Erick gave a brief updated on city programs and events ongoing at the Community Center. Motion by Ted Butler, second by Allison Boes, to close the meeting at 7:05pm.
