Discussion Items
Expansion Update – Erick reviewed the two most recent drawings provided by the 292 Design Group. The
handouts are labeled Option A and Option B dated 05.09.18. Erick stated that additional information and
drawings will be sent to the advisory commission as they become available.
Future Meeting Calendar – Erick reminded commission members that budget and rental rates will be
discussed at the upcoming June and July advisory commission meetings.
The Andover City Council has two upcoming city council workshops scheduled to discuss expansion. They
will be held on Tuesday, May 22nd and Tuesday, June 26th . Erick encouraged all commission members to
attend these meetings. ACC Staff will send out additional information to commission members once it
becomes available.
The annual year in review presentation that is typically given to the council around this time of year will be
given at a later date as the current focus is on the year to come.
4) AHYHA Update – AHYHA is starting to get things ready for the upcoming 2018-2019 season. AHYHA
estimates that approximately 12 Bantams players out of 30 will be going to the high school teams, leaving
the remaining kids with no place to play within AHYHA unless a Jr. Gold team becomes established. Tony
Peterson indicated that the AHYHA is looking at how they can achieve their goal of adding a Jr. Gold Team
by securing early morning ice hours at the ACC and possibly renting additional ice at the East Bethel Ice
Arena. Jr. Gold would start Mid-November after high school tryouts. Tony Howard stated how important it
is to invest in the future of the girls’ program to help keep them motivated. Mr. Howard suggested that we
look at utilizing former AHYHA hockey players who are now or had been playing division hockey.
5) YMCA Update – The Andover YMCA saw 55,000 visits in April 2018 vs April 2017 where they saw
5,100 visits, they suspect the weather played a role in the increase of visits. The Summer programs are about
80% filled. They will expect about 450 kids per day between the Andover YMCA Community Center and

Camp Guy Robinson. On Wednesday, May 23rd they will host a healthy aging day at the Andover YMCA
Community Center.
6) ACC Update – Erick reviewed the ACC status report. The community center will be hosting several
upcoming Jr. Level Hockey Pre-Draft Camps. Cindy stated that Tot Time Open Gym has ended for the
season with more than 400+ families participating in this year’s program. Instead of offering a 6 session
learn to skate summer learn to skate program, the community center is trying something a bit different by
offering four Family Fun Skate Nights with different themes, Cindy provided a flyer to commission
members.
Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 11, 2018 at 6 pm. Due to room availability, the meeting will be
held at Andover City Hall.
