VILLAGE OF ANGEL FIRE Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 1:00 pm Meeting at Village Hall Call to Order Chairman Owen Curry called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm. Pledge of Allegiance Roll Call Present: Owen Curry, Justin Temple, AJ Farmer, Don Willingham, Nanci Bush Approval of Today’s Agenda Justin Temple made the motion to approve today’s agenda with the modification to remove item B. under New Business and replace it with B. Discussion on Habla Tamale. Seconded by AJ Farmer. Today’s agenda was approved by a 5-0 vote. Tourism Director Report Visitor Center - moving to Frontier Plaza by August 1. It will be open and staffed seven days a week. Communication project – newsletter, social media, and podcasts Enchanted Color Tour - Aspen color watch Goal for tourism - have at least ten events each year Old Business: A. Event Recap Balloons Over Angel Fire: pilots were happy, need more traffic control, need for more vendors, plan for any medical emergencies, great attendance July 4 Drone Show was not up to expectations. Greg Ralph has been in touch with Sky Elements promising a better show for next year with 200 drones which will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025.  B. The contract with Carristo Creative Consulting has been terminated. August 15 is the submittal date for the new RFP. The Village has spent $200,000 to date of the original contract. New Business: A. The new RFP for advertising services will be put out for bid and some work can be done with staff. This RFP is more in-depth with ratings, timing, locations of postings, etc. B. Habla Tamale Greg Ralph proposed that Angel Fire host a Habla Tamale Cook-off & Festival on August 31, 2024 to coincide with Labor Day weekend. Don Willingham made the motion to accept the RFP for $12,500. Justin Temple seconded it. The RFP was approved by a 5-0 vote. Chairman Owen Curry adjourned the meeting at 1:46 pm.
