Huron St. Ann Arbor, MI 48104 http://a2gov.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx Meeting Minutes - Final Thursday, October 22, 2020 2:00 PM Special Meeting - Public Test Larcom City Hall, 301 E Huron St, Second floor, City Council workroom Election Commission Election Commission Meeting Minutes - Final October 22, 2020 CALL TO ORDER CIty Clerk Jacqueline Beaudry called the meeting of the City Election Commission to order at 2:06 p.m. in the Guy C. Larcom, Jr. Building, 2nd Floor Council Work Room, 301 E. Huron Street. Deputy City Clerks Steve Gerhart and Jennifer Alexa were present. ROLL CALL A member of the City Attorney's Office was not present. Present: 2- Jacqueline Beaudry, and Jason Forsberg Absent: 2- Stephen Postema, and Michael Cox APPROVAL OF AGENDA A motion was made by Forsberg, seconded by Chair Beaudry, that the Agenda be approved as presented. On a voice vote, the Chair declared the motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENT A representative of the League of Women Voters was present and introduced herself. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 20-1630 Election Commission Meeting Minutes of October 13, 2020 A motion was made by Forsberg, seconded by Chair Beaudry, that the Election Commission Meeting Minutes of October 13, 2020 be approved by the Commission and forwarded to City Council. On a voice vote, the Chair declared the motion carried. NEW BUSINESS City of Ann Arbor Page 1 Election Commission Meeting Minutes - Final October 22, 2020 Public Accuracy and Logic Test of the Voting Equipment Jennifer Alexa, deputy clerk, was present to conduct the public logic and accuracy test of the voting equipment to be used in the November 3, 2020 General Election. Ms. Alexa explained that the public test would demonstrate the accuracy of the vote tabulator for Ward 3, Precinct 8. City Clerk Jacqueline Beaudry provided an explanation to the members of the audience regarding the preliminary and public testing of the City's equipment. UNFINISHED BUSINESS INFORMATION/UPCOMING BUSINESS City Election Commissioners discussed plans for the upcoming election, notably the increase in mail-in or absentee ballots. The city clerk stated the counting of the ballots at the Absent Voter Counting Board (AVCB) was scheduled to take place at Huron High School, due to the increased number of ballots and the new high-speed tabulation equipment. Due to the off site location of the AVCB, it was decided that an additional police presence would be needed to ensure the security of the ballots.
