Call To Order The Chairman called the Meeting to order at 5:14 PM. Present: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderwoman Finlayson and Alderman Arnett 3. Business before Committee 4. General Discussion ID-13-099 Update on hiring of City Manager Human Resources Director Rensted discussed the Hiring process for a new Planning Director. The Alderpersons suggested that there should be council people involved in the hiring process. Alderwoman Finlayson suggested that a council person could serve on the interview committee. Human Resources Director Rensted discussed the Hiring process for a new City Manager. The committee discussed the hiring of a search firm for the City Manager position. Alderwoman Finlayson moved to request that a resolution be drafted to express a sense of the council that there should be a professional search firm be hired for the hiring of the new City Manager. Seconded. CARRIED on voice vote. Aye: 3- Alderwoman Pindell Charles, Alderwoman Finlayson and Alderman Arnett ID-13-100 Discussion of Contract Employees Human Resources Director Rensted spoke on employee contracts. Mr. Rensted explained the process of approving contract employees and the process of approving outside contractors. The committee members inquired about the council being informed about MPIA requests. Communications Officer Wardlaw spoke on the topic, offering to copy the Alderman on future requests. Communications Officer Wardlaw spoke on the topic of the hiring of the additional camera man to televise all meetings. The committee requested copies of all employment contracts, and employee contractors for this fiscal year. The committee discussed the contract employee policy. The committee requested a copy of the policy for their next meeting R-7-14 Approval of Job Description: Planning Director - For the purpose of approving the job description for the Planning Director position.
