FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 2020, AT 1:00 P.M.
The meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m. by Mayor Pro Tem, Erik Skogquist.
Present: Mayor Pro Tem Skogquist, Councilmembers: Barnett and Wesp.
Absent: Mayor Rice and Councilmember Freeburg.
Staff: Assistant City Manager Amy Oehlers.
3.1 Canvass of August 11, 2020 Municipal Primary Election Results.
RESOLUTION NO. 2020-04-A
This special meeting was held for the purpose of canvassing election returns of the Tuesday, August 11, 2020
Municipal Primary Election, pursuant to Section 4.08 of the Anoka City Charter.
Assistant City Manager, Amy Oehlers reviewed the City election returns from the eight precincts for the Mayoral
position. Ms. Oehlers presented a summary of the results.

The following named persons, having received the most votes, will be placed on the November 3, 2020 Municipal
General Election Ballot for the Mayoral position: Barbara Deeds Baldwin and Phil Rice
A motion was made by Councilmember Wesp and seconded by Councilmember Barnett to adopt the Resolution
Canvassing the Municipal Election Returns for the August 11, 2020 Primary Election.
Vote taken: All ayes.
Ms. Oehlers provided the Council with additional election statistics, results, ballot sample, etc., regarding
elections for the City of Anoka. This was provided for informational purposes only.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Anoka City Council at this Special Meeting, Councilmember
Barnett made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Councilmember Wesp seconded the motion. Vote taken: All
Ayes. The Special Meeting adjourned at 1:10 p.m.

RESOLUTION
RES-2020-
A RESOLUTION CANVASSING MUNICIPAL ELECTION RETURNS FOR THE
CITY OF ANOKA, PRIMARY ELECTION OF AUGUST 11, 2020
WHEREAS, a City Primary Election was held in Anoka, Minnesota on August 11, 2020; and
WHEREAS, the City of Anoka had the following Municipal Office on the ballot:
Mayor – 2 year term
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute Section 205.065 requires that Primary Election results must be
canvassed either the second or third day after the Primary Election; and
WHEREAS, upon canvassing the election returns, the two candidates for the office named,
who received the highest number of votes, shall be the nominees for said office at the General
Election to be held on November 3, 2020; and
WHEREAS, said nominee names shall be certified by the City Clerk and submitted to the
County Elections office for placement on the Municipal General Election Ballot.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Anoka does
hereby accept and enter into as official record the election returns as attached hereto as, for the
August 11, 2020 Primary Election.
Adopted by the Anoka City Council this the 14th day of August 2020.
