CALL TO ORDER B. ROLL CALL C. AGENDA ITEMS 1. 14-472 Annual board and commission interviews for the Board of Adjustment, Library Board of Trustees, Parks and Recreation Commission and the Planning and Zoning Commission. The positions to be filled for all of these boards and commissions have terms of office which expire on October 31, 2014 with a new term expiring on October 31, 2017. There is one exception as Don Breiland is resigning from the Library Board as of October 31, 2014 with the remainder of his term expiring on October 31, 2016. This item gives the council the opportunity to interview all applicants interested in these boards. Appointments for these boards are on the agenda for the regular meeting of October 7, 2014. Discussion and interviews. 2. 14-482 Presentation and discussion on wayfinding signage to the Veterans Memorial Park. Presentation and discussion. 3. 14-465 Presentation and discussion on Resolution No. 14-38, authorizing the city to enter into Amendment #2 to the East Valley Gang and Criminal Information Fusion Center Intergovernmental Agreement to enhance law enforcement services related to the collection, evaluation, analysis and dissemination of intelligence regarding criminal street gangs and related criminal incidents. Presentation and discussion. 4. 14-467 Presentation and discussion on Resolution No. 14-37, authorizing the city to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with Arizona Department of Public Safety for participation in the Arizona Vehicle Task Force. City of Apache Junction, Arizona Page 1 Printed on 10/1/2014 City Council Work Session Agenda October 6, 2014 5. 14-485 Recently, the mayor has participated in U.S. Senate Hearings on Indian Gaming in Glendale. In September the City of Glendale approved a development project with the Tohono O’odham Nation, where approximately $25 million will be paid to Glendale over 20 years. The project includes a casino, hotel, convention center with retail businesses and restaurants located near the University of Phoenix Stadium (101 N and Northern Avenue). The mayor is interested for full council discussion on whether the city as a public entity should be on record with other cities and towns as well as multiple Indian Tribes opposing the project and supporting congressional blocking of the project.
