CALL TO ORDER Mayor Serdy called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. B. ROLL CALL Staff in attendance: Bryant Powell, City Manager Matt Busby, Assistant City Manager Anna McCray, Assistant to the City Manager Joel Stern, City Attorney Kathy Connelly, City Clerk Larry Kirch, Development Services Director Mike Wever, Public Works Director Troy Mullender, Captain, Apache Junction Police Department Al Bravo, Public Information Officer Present 7- Mayor Serdy Vice Mayor Wilson Councilmember Barker Councilmember Evans Councilmember Rizzi Councilmember Struble Councilmember Waldron C. AGENDA ITEMS City of Apache Junction, Arizona Page 1 Special Meeting of the Apache Meeting Minutes September 17, 2018 Junction City Council 1. 18-381 Consideration for approval of Resolution No. 18-28, a resolution of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Apache Junction, Pinal and Maricopa Counties, Arizona, declaring and adopting the results of the primary election held on August 28, 2018. City Clerk Kathy Connelly explained the canvass of votes officially accepts the primary election results and the deadline for acceptance is today. Mayor Serdy asked for clarification on when the 10-day period of removing campaign signs ended. City Attorney Joel Stern explained that for city campaign signs the 10-day period would begin on September 18th and unless the signs were in a right-of way staff should not automatically remove any city election signs at the end of this period but instead should contact the candidate to remove the signs themselves. Ms. Connelly explained that the seating of the elected council members takes place at the first regular council meeting in January which is scheduled for January 15, 2019. Councilmember Barker made a motion to approve Resolution No. 18-28, a resolution of the mayor and city council of the city of Apache Junction, Pinal and Maricopa counties, Arizona, declaring and adopting the results of the primary election held on August 28, 2018. Councilmember Waldron seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
