ARMADA TOWNSHIP BOARD Regular Meeting Minutes 23121 East Main Armada, MI 48005 January 10, 2024 7:00 p.m. PUBLIC HEARING – C.D.B.G. CALL TO ORDER: At 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Paterek MEMBERS PRESENT: Murray, Goetzinger, Paterek, Job, Swiacki MEMBERS ABSENT: None OPEN PUBLIC HEARING: Motion by Paterek seconded by Swiacki to open public hearing at 7 p.m. Motion CARRIED Public Comments: Sandy Hoxie from Armada PAL: PAL is in their 40th year for summer camp. She is asking for any support that the board can provide to send students that cannot afford camp the opportunity to go. Each camper is $400. Judy Barron from Samaratan House: They serviced 8 families in Armada last year with food. Five families with Easter gift cards. They have a backpack program with a $20 gift card. Boot and coat program for children up to 5th grade. There is a real need for Armada Township and Armada Village families. Is asking for any amount of funding for support. Supervisor read a letter from Stacy Conte of Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers. They are unable to attend but would greatly appreciate consideration in granting funding. CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS: (a) Approval of Minutes: Regular Minutes December 13, 2023 Special Meeting Minutes December 29, 2023 – Fire Chief Candidate (b) Current Bills totaling $ 1,973,382.84 (c) Revenue and Expenditure Reports (d) Department Reports Motion by Swiacki seconded by Murray to approve consent agenda items as presented. Bid opening will be February 8, 2024 at 10 am at the township hall. Anonymous Letter: The board received an anonymous letter regarding the possibility of putting radar speed feedback digital signs to calm out of control drivers on our roads. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS: C.D.B.G FY24 – Allocations: Motion by Swiacki seconded by Job to approve allocations as follows: Armada PAL: $800 Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers: $296 MCREST: $377 Samaritan House: $377 Ayes: Swiacki, Goetzinger ,Job, Paterek Nays: Murray Motion CARRIED FY23-24 General fund budget amendment(s): Motion by Swiacki seconded by Murray to approve budget amendment as presented: Batch amendment 101.265.801.000 Contractual Services previous amount $1 increase to $10,000 This will cover the EMPCO invoice for testing three fire chief candidates and an employment physical, drug and psychological testing and criminal background check for new fire chief. Ayes: Swiacki, Murray, Paterek, Goetzinger Nays: Job Motion CARRIED Planning & Zoning 2024 Meeting Dates: Motion by Swiacki seconded by Paterek to approve dates as presented. All Ayes Motion CARRIED Resolution 2024-01 Opposing Proposed Water Affordability Legislation: Motion by Paterek seconded by Murray to adopt Resolution 2024-01 as presented. All Ayes Motion CARRIED PUBLIC COMMENT: BOARD MEMBERS: Trustee Job, Trustee Goetzinger, Treasurer Murray, Clerk Swiacki and Supervisor Paterek.
