Participation Instructions This meeting will be held in-person in The Grove, 1195 E. Main St. Those who wish to provide oral testimony must attend the meeting, fill out a speaker request card, and give it to a staff member before the meeting begins. CALL TO ORDER –Chair Michael Dotson called the meeting to order at 3:33 p.m. II. ROLL CALL a) Present Members: Chair Michael Dotson, Vice Chair Cori Grimm, Risa Buck, John Spitzley, Katharine Danner, Rick Vann b) Present Staff: Deputy Director Rachel Dials, Recreation Supervisor Lonny Flora, c) Not Present: Julia Chapman, Jim Bachman (Commission Liaison) III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES a) October 16, 2025 RDAC Meeting Minutes corrected by member Spitzley addressing Ashland Pickleball Club membership numbers and correct website address. Motion to approve by member Vice Chair Grimm and 2nd by member Spitzley. All approve. IV. ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA a) NONE V. PUBLIC FORUM a) NONE. VI. BUSINESS a) Tour of Community Center & Pioneer Hall: Members were invited to tour soon- to-be opened Ashland Community Center prior to meeting and able to walk through newly opened Pioneer Hall at the conclusion. b) Recreation Division Updates: Deputy Director Dials informed members on • Background of closures and re-opening process of Ashland Community Center & Pioneer Hall • Update on Ice Rink Canopy Progress • Update on Butler-Pierozzi Fountain Repairs • Update on Hunter Tennis Court Resurfacing • North Mountain Park Nature Center Updates • Upcoming Fees and Charges Process • Updates on E. Main Park project • Supervisor Flora updated members on digital guide for Winter- Spring season and programming plans for Summer season. c) Items from Committee Members: • Member Buck requested that APR Commission Liaison Bachman be contacted about prioritizing attendance in RDAC meetings. Buck also requested more clarity for the goals and charge for RDAC committee. • Member Spitzley informed committee on formation of 501c3 status for the Ashland Pickleball Club. Spitzley discussed potential of removing pickleball activities in Lithia Park and supported inclusion of pickleball at Hunter Park Tennis Courts. • Member Danner requested information about the process initiated by Parks and the City surrounding permitting of the ice rink canopy structure. Danner discussed frequency of RDAC business meetings being prohibitive to progress when only meeting once a quarter. • Vice Chair Grimm requested more transparency and inclusion of RDAC members in City Fees and Charges, specifically rental rates for publicly reservable spaces VII. UPCOMING MEETING DATES: a) The next meeting will be held April 16, 3:30pm at The Grove. Meeting adjourned at 4:40 pm. That will be the only action taken at this meeting. The other agenda items for the meeting will update committee members on APRD projects and recreation operations.
