Statement by Athens City Council President Chris Seibert and Mayor Ronnie Marks Concerning Cancellation of May 23, 2022 City Council Meeting Due to unexpected circumstances, there will not be a quorum of city council members available and present to do business at the Athens City Council’s regular meeting on May 23, 2022. Consequently, Council President Seibert has canceled the May 23 meeting. The business items that were expected to be brought before the council for consideration at the May 23 council meeting are instead expected to be brought before the council for consideration at its June 6, 2022 meeting. Any public hearings on zoning and alcohol matters that were scheduled for the May 23 council meeting are expected to be re-scheduled by the council for a later time/date.
