NOTICE OF BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING
The Board of Zoning Adjustment for the City of Athens, Alabama, will hold a work session at 5:00
p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 5:30 p.m., in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, at
200 W. Hobbs Street, on Thursday, June 20, 2019, for the purpose of hearing the following
applications and appeals. At this time, the applicant and all interested parties are requested to be
present and will be given the opportunity to be heard.
Approval of Minutes
Case #1 Request of Joseph Dunkin for a Variance to reduce the rear yard minimum
setback from 40’ to 31’ (a reduction of 9 feet), located at 23309 Shinnecock Hills
Drive, in a CPUD, Conventional Planned Unit Development.
Case #2 Request of Philip T. White for a Special Exception for a major
home occupation to operate a home office with parking for a food trailer, located
at 111 Hayden Street, in an R-1-1 Single Family Low Density Residential District.
Case #3 Request of Athens Bible School for a Variance to increase the
maximum sign height for a detached accessory sign from 8’ to 16’ (an increase in
8’), located at 700 US HWY 31 North, in an INST, Institutional District.
