NOTICE OF BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING The Board of Zoning Adjustment for the City of Athens, Alabama, will hold a work session at 5:00 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 5:30 p.m., this meeting will be held at the City Council Chambers at 200 Hobbs Street West, Athens, Alabama​, on ​Thursday, November 19, 2020, for the purpose of hearing the following applications and appeals. At this time, the applicant and all interested parties are requested to make their presence known and will be given the opportunity to be heard. The City will be streaming the meeting online via Zoom in a way that allows members of the public to listen, observe, and participate in the meeting. More information regarding the streaming of the meeting will be made available on the City’s website ​www.athensal.us find the “Government” menu, click on the “Zoning Board of Adjustment”. Due to COVID-19 procedures, chairs will be spaced 6+ feet apart, and it is requested that the attendees wear masks or other facial coverings. Approval of Minutes Case #1 Request of Chris Mitchell for a variance to place a 32 square foot detached sign for N2VINL, a home occupation, at 18559 Jefferson St. in an R-1-1 Low Density Single Family Residential District. (Rehearing was approved at the Oct. 15 meeting.) Case #2 Request of Advance Sign and Lighting for Chipotle Mexican Grill at 1289 US Hwy 72 East for a variance to the number of attached signs and number of attached signs on facades in order to allow for attached signs on 2 facades and 66.28 square feet of attached sign area, which exceeds what is permitted by 1 attached sign on a facade and 10.03 square feet of sign area, zoned in a B-2 General Business District. Case #3 Request of Akin Holdings LLC to request a reduction to the rear setback by 12 feet, from the required 20 feet rear setback to be able to build within 8 feet of the rear property line, for property located at southwest of the intersection of Clinton Street and Huntwick Drive, zoned in a B-2 General Business District.
