NOTICE OF BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENT (BOZA) MEETING The Board of Zoning Adjustment for the City of Athens, Alabama, will hold a work session at 5:00 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 5:30 p.m., this meeting will be held at the City Council Chambers at 200 Hobbs Street West, Athens, Alabama, on Thursday, July 15, 2021, for the purpose of hearing the following applications and appeals. At this time, the applicant and all interested parties are requested to make their presence known and will be given the opportunity to be heard. Due to COVID-19 procedures, chairs will be spaced 6+ feet apart, and it is requested that the attendees wear masks or other facial coverings. Approval of Minutes – June 17, 2021 & June 30, 2021 (Special Called Meeting) Case #1 – Tabled at Special Called Meeting Request of Athens Family Health Center at address 1005 Market Street West, regarding an Appeal and a Variance request for an Area of Sign Face to replace existing letters with new 45sf. Ft. letters. Zoned TI – Traditional Neighborhood. Case #2 Request of MidTown Centre, LLC at address 165 HWY 31 Athens, AL 35611 regarding a Variance request of the number and location of signs. Requirement - One Business center sign per property NTE 350sf. Request – One standard business center sign and two smaller signs with total sf NTE 350 sf. Hardship – Publix has access from the east (HWY 31), north (Pryor St) and south (Hobbs St.). Publix site is a mid-block location with no viability from side streets. 3 signs total sf does not exceed max 350sf for one sign. Zoned B2 – General Business District. Case #3 Request of Lindsay Lane Christian Academy at address 705 W. Sanderfer RD. Athens, AL 35611 regarding a variance request specifically, other regulations.
