Athens Airport Authority Meeting December 20, 2018 3:00 p.m. Athens Flight Center - Conference Room Authority: Lester Shindelman, Chair Beth Higgins, Michael Pierce, David Asman, Bayne Smith Airport: Mike Mathews, Airport Director Robert Hiss, ACC Assistant Manager Angela Dalton, Airport Billing Coordinator Public Comments: N/A Approval of November 14, 2018 Minutes: Approved as submitted. Chairman Update: Mr. Shindelman noted that the Authority has completed many projects to be proud of during the year. He also reviewed today’s meeting agenda. Airport Manager Reports a. Financial Report: Mr. Mathews reviewed the monthly report provided by the ACC Finance Department as of November 30, 2018. b. Operations Report: The operations report compiled with data received from the Control Tower Chief has been updated and was reviewed. c. Runway Project: Mr. Mathews noted that Phase 2 of the project is complete. Phase 3 is scheduled to begin on January 7, 2019, which will include an overlay on the length of the runway and temporary markings as well as completion of the lighting. Once paving is completed, there will be a 30 day cure time during which the runway will not be grooved, but it will be open for use. After the 30 day cure time, the runway will be grooved and the markings will be final. d. 2020 SPLOST Update: Mr. Mathews noted that he will make a presentation to the SPLOST Committee in either January or early February. Mr. Shindelman noted that Mr. Miles is on this Committee as a Mayor appointed member. Old Business a. Google Drive Update: Mr. Shindelman gave a presentation demonstrating the restructuring of the Authority’s drive. b. Proposed Fuel Sales Analysis Report: Mr. Shindelman noted that he is working with Mr. Mathews to prepare a report that will reflect a month to date analysis. This will be presented at the January meeting.  c. AHN/Athens Tech Meeting: Mr. Mathews noted that Mr. Shindelman, Mr. Miles and he had a positive meeting with the President of Athens Tech, Dr. Daniel. Discussion was held concerning the details of this meeting and the next steps and how staff and the Authority should further proceed. Operations Committee a. Georgia Northwestern Technical College Aviation Training Program Trip Report: Mr. Asman gave a presentation of his visit to the Georgia Northwestern Technical College Aviation Training Center, an airframe and power plant (A&P) school located at the Rome, GA Airport. It was noted that this is the model that the Authority is working to achieve with the Athens Tech partnership. Business, Finance & Planning Committee a. Strategic Planning Next Steps, Long Term Goals: It was noted that the next step in this process will be to hold a work session with Amanda Hill, MaesAwyr Consulting, Ms. Bennett, Organizational Development and Authority members. Staff will work to schedule this session within the next month. Air Service Development Committee a. Working Group Meeting: Ms. Higgins noted that the meeting and presentation was very well attended and was well received by the attendees. Discussion was held concerning proceeding with next steps. b. SCASDP 2018: It was noted that the grant has not been released to date. It was also noted that American Airlines is willing to give a letter in support of the Airport’s grant submittal. c. Mead & Hunt Recommendations: Discussion was held concerning this consultant preparing the grant submittal and next steps in that process. New Business a. 2019 Authority Chair Nominating Process: The consensus of the members was to email Mr. Shindelman their recommendations for the 2019 Chair position. b. Board, Authorities & Commissions Handbook: Mr. Shindelman distributed the table of contents from the handbook that has been prepared by ACC Management Staff.
