Athens Airport Authority Meeting February 23, 2021 3:00 p.m. Live Stream on ACCGOV YouTube Channel Authority: Diane Napier, Chair Lester Shindelman, Keith Sanders, Grant Tribble, Robert Miles Airport: Mike Mathews, Airport Director Angela Dalton, Airport Business Coordinator Josh Edward, ACC Assistant Manager A. Chair Update: Mrs. Napier opened the meeting by thanking Mr. Sanders for chairing the January meeting during her absence and also introducing Mr. Doster, SPLOST Projects Administrator, as a special guest presenter. B. Special Guest Presentation: Derek Doster: SPLOST Projects Administrator: Mr. Doster gave a presentation and an update on both the Lexington Highway & Atlanta Highway Corridor Improvement Projects and also potential Airport projects. He noted that project lists have been created for both corridors and public/user group input is currently in the process of being received to prioritize a final list to be presented to the Mayor & Commission for their approval in the June/July meeting cycle. C. Approval January Authority Meeting Minutes: Approved with the correction of Mr. Edwards name under attendees. D. Airport Manager Reports a. Financial & Operations Report: Mr. Mathews reviewed the monthly report as of 1/31/21, including the operations report. b. Capital Improvement Project Updates: Mr. Mathews noted that a pre-construction meeting has been scheduled for both the Taxiway A (Schedule A) and Localizer Relocation Projects. He also noted that funding has been secured for Schedule B of the Taxiway A Project and staff is currently awaiting the grant agreement from GDOT to move forward. c. Marketing & Outreach Activities: Mr. Mathews noted that the newsletter for February has been sent. He is also working to distribute the Annual Report. d. COVID -19 Update: Mr. Mathews noted that the ARFF staff have been vaccinated through the Athens-Clarke County Emergency Management Department. No other update at this time. E. Old Business: N/A F. New Business a. Airport Authority Google Drive for archiving documents: Mrs. Napier noted that she has been talking with staff and Authority members concerning discontinuing the use of Google Drive for storage of the Authority’s documents. After much discussion, the consensus of the Authority was to discontinue and disband the Google Drive document storage. b. Sustainability issues: Mr. Sanders gave an update on the research he has been performing on this issue as it relates to the operations of the Airport. Discussion was held concerning requesting an intern for the Fall Semester from the UGA Sustainability Department to assist in developing a carbon footprint of Airport Property. G. Adjourn: 4:37 p.m.
