Agenda for ACAC Commissioners Meeting DATE: August 9, 2021 - 6pm PRESENT: Executive: Chair: Andrew Salinas Vice Chair: Patrice Green Treasurer: Absent Secretary: Madeline Bates Members-at-Large: Beatrice Brown, Donna Brumby, Linda Ford, Helen Kuykendall, Montu Miller, Victoria Prevatt, Esra Santesso Ex-Officio: Jan Bush, Mickey Boyd Advisors: Didi Dunphy, Stephanie Raines, Marilyn Wolf-Ragatz Guests: Diana Jackson, Madhuri Angadi, Ryan Moot, Paul Cramer, Danny Bryant Staff: Tatiana Veneruso ABSENT: Darcie St. Onge, Serena Scibelli Motion to approve previous minutes with no changes: Beatrice Brown; Second: Esra Santesso. Yay: 10. Nay: 0. Motion passes. Chair’s/Vice Chair’s Report:  Classic Center Arena: Special Guests o Presentation of Classic Center campus expansion plans with mock-ups. Potential opportunities for public art will be in the exterior pedestrian plaza/concourse (possibly one large focal point piece), the south and east exterior walls (murals, things that could be hung, etc.), and along the Georgia Music Hall of Fame “experiential nodes” inside the arena. 1% of SPLOST-funded construction budget for public art will be $320,846. It would be possible for some of the displayed artworks to change out, such as on the eastern exterior wall. o The Georgia Music Hall of Fame (museum) will be free and open to the public whenever there is not an event (approximately 125 per year.) o ACAC to review plans to be shared by Paul Cramer and present possible themes for artwork. Building construction to begin January 2022 and building to be open fall 2023, so public art may not be sited until 2023. o Volunteers for project committee: Madeline, Bea, Montu, Donna, Esra, Marilyn  Update: Patrice is moving away from Athens for a new job. Therefore, we will need a new Vice Chair and to fill Patrice’s spot on the commission. Treasurer’s Report: No updates. Project Reports: Clayton (fabrication set), Greenway (in progress on Greenway), Fire Hall #2 (dedication Sept 10), Cooperative Extension (August completion), Dudley Park (August completion, dedication with building), Whitehall Roundabout (August completion), Poet Laureate (contract signed this week), Music Walk of Fame (new plaques installed this Thursday, AthFest announcement, event in fall?), Hawthorne/Oglethorpe (call for art?), Greenway II (site(s) selected, call for art?)  Additional updates: o Greenway: Rainbow Forest installation is in progress. Motion to approve up to 40 additional hours at $25/hr for each artist assistant: Beatrice Brown; Second: Patrice Green. Yay: 10. Nay: 0. Motion passes. o Volunteers for committee to update calls for art for Greenway Phase 2 and other projects: Helen, Jan, Madeline, Marilyn. Coming up: Ecostations, Affordable Housing, Costa Building Outreach: ● Ribbon cuttings, etc. ● Outreach meeting: we need to meet once in August while Patrice is still here. Volunteers: Jan, Helen, Madeline, and Mickey. ● Website: we need 3 bids to review. Outreach committee to discuss brand marketing consultants/agencies/interns prior to putting out a call for bids.
