Athens in Motion Grants and Data Subcommittee Date: 2/19/20 In attendance: Hillary Essig, Stephen Bailey, James Barlament, Mark Ebell Data section Discussed current state of generating data on serious injury/fatality accidents in Clarke County for 2014 to 2018. 2018 is nearly complete, work will begin soon on remaining years. Mark offered assistance with analysis of spatial and GIS mapped data, as well as time series data. We discussed other sources of data, including the UGA Traffic Study Group in CPH, and data regarding speeding, lane change, and failure to stop citations, especially in heavily bike/ped trafficked corridors. Finally, we discussed getting hospital data regarding pedestrian, bike and e-scooter injuries over the past 5 years at St. Mary’s and PAR. Would use ICD-10 codes to identify relevant accidents/injuries, de-identify records, and generate a dataset with date, age, sex, discharge disposition, insurance status, trauma score or category, and final diagnoses. To do: __ James will reach out to Professor Carol Cotton to see if we can get access to any of her traffic study group data. __ Stephen and Hillary will work with PD to obtain traffic citation data. __ Mark will discuss data access with each hospital and submit an IRB application if it seems feasible.
