Minutes - Regular Meeting Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections & Voter Registration February 21, 2023, 4:30pm 120 W Dougherty Street, Athens, GA 30601 Bylaws of the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections and Voter Registration (bit.ly/accboebylaws) Chair Raffle called the meeting to order at 4:35pm. In attendance were Rocky Raffle, Chair; Ann Till, Vice Chair; Adam Shirley, Secretary; Willa Fambrough, Member; and Hank Qadir, Member. Others in attendance were Charlotte Sosebee, Elections Director; Lisa McGlaun, Elections Assistant; Audra Taylor, Elections Assistant; Pamela Long, Elections Assistant; Niki Jones, Assistant County Manager; and Judd Drake, County Attorney. Also present were three members of the community. A. MOTION by Ms. Fambrough to adopt the agenda. Seconded by Mr. Shirley. Approved unanimously. B. MOTION by Ms. Till to approve the minutes from the January 10 Regular Meeting, amended to correct a typographical error. Seconded by Ms. Fambrough. Approved unanimously. C. Public comment was heard from Mara Zuñiga. D. Director Sosebee pre sented the Director ’s Report. E. Old Business 1. Continuing discussion about changes to voter precincts for 2024 elections (10min - Shirley) 2. Status of letter to CCSD school board and superintendent about improving communications between our office and theirs regarding election logistics (5min - Raffle) MOTION by Ms. Till to table this item until the March meeting. Seconded by Ms. Fambrough. Approved unanimously. 3. Resolution for advance voting schedule template (10min - Qadir) MOTION by Ms. Fambrough to table this item until the April meeting. Seconded by Ms. Till. Approved unanimously. F. New Business Discussion regarding adding Spanish language support for future elections (10min - Shirley) MOTION by Mr. Qadir to extend this agenda item by 10 minutes. Seconded by Mr. Raffle. Approved unanimously. G. Announcements 1. March regular meeting: March 14, 2023, 4:30pm, at 120 W Dougherty Street 2. Upcoming deadlines for 2023 special election (County Commission District 2) a. February 27 - earliest day we can mail regular absentee ballots for March 2023 special election - advance voting begins for March 2023 special election b. March 10: last day to submit absentee ballot application for March 2023 special election c. March 21: Election Day: last day to vote in person in the March 2023 special election 3. Work sessions to consider possible changes to 2024 polling places a. April 4, 3:00pm, 2555 Lexington Road b. April 18, 3:00pm, 2555 Lexington Road H. MOTION by Mr. Shirley to adjourn. Seconded by Ms. Fambrough. Approved unanimously. Adjourned at 5:48pm.
