Mary stated a goal of 2 social media posts per month, one of these being a bio of a member. For fundraising we have discussed getting the word out to funeral homes that an option for “in lieu of flowers'' to memorialize loved ones could be a gift to the Tree Council. We discussed the need for new brochures, and Jessie is going to research the cost of this. Mary and Jessie are setting up a work session to layout a draft of this. Adjourn: ◆ Policy Committee Meeting Minutes (02/15/2021, 1:00 – 2:00 PM): Members: Mary Songster (chair), Joseph Bates, Lea Clark, Rodney Walters Discussed formalizing advisory positions from CTC to Planning, not to make the whole plan not to necessarily even get all of the language exact for code or policy but give as much information and reason for what we are thinking as far as tree policy goes. To advise on issues that we think need looking at. not something where we garner all the public input- that would be the job of 3 planning we’d be more like the Greeenway Steering committee’s advisory capacity to the ACC master plan. where we are a non professional advisory body on the master plan. For the beginning; to develop positions based on the issues that Joseph Bates and Lea Clarke has brought forth and the planning commission change to the planting waiver that Mary has been researching. Bruce has encouraged us to add as much as possible to a “List” and for this next year - while I’m here it will probably be focused on where trees intersect the built environment because that is what I’m most familiar with, but in the upcoming years with new people on the committee it might be that someone has much better ideas about parks, or easements, or where the city can grow it’s own Christmas tree instead of asking from general public In addition - begin some at least annual advocacy for funding to M&C for areas that we see are in need. Starting with the downtown tree funding letter to be submitted to the CTC body for review and edits in the March meeting. The letter will be tied to when Andrew Saunders makes a request for funds for downtown trees from the Hotel Motel tax funding that he has been approved for.
