MINUTES Human Relations Committee Wednesday, December 6, 2023 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM City Hall 301B ACCGov Staff in Attendance: 1. Dr. Remy Epps – Inclusion Officer 2. Box 1868 ∙ Athens, Georgia 30603 (706) 613-3015 ∙ Email: inclusionoffice@accgov.com www.accgov.com Chairperson’s Update and Report  Chair acknowledged the committee’s dedication and thanked the group for their continued hard work.  Dr. Epps shared updates from the Inclusion Office: o Thanked the group for trusting the process of the work that they are doing. She looks forward to seeing what the committee will accomplish in the New Year. o She provided an update on the current planning of MLK Day of Service and invited the committee to attend and participate in the volunteer opportunity. o She reiterated the importance of everyone filling out the nametag form to ensure the group has nametags for MLK Day of Service, and upcoming community event.  Committee accepted the November 2023 minutes.  No public comment on old business. Old Business  The committee confirmed that the Community Information Session would be held Thursday January 26, 2024 at the ACC Library from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. o They discussed the event agenda and plan of action.  The committee voted to leave refreshment choices to the outreach subcommittee and the Inclusion Office. The proposal will be out in time to ensure the community has time to apply, as well as to provide the proper education be given on the PFP process. This would give applicants the opportunity to properly plan and prepare for the event.  The committee voted to approve either June 15 or June 22 as the date for Juneteenth event.  The committee voted to approve the Juneteenth RFP scope of services.  Public comment given on new business. New Business  Chairperson shared that the policy committee is working to address the process of filing a NDO.  Policy Subcommittee recommended to extend the NDO filing period from 90 days to 365 days.  Dr. Epps provided her sentiments on the process of changing and/or recommending a policy.  The committee voted to approve the change of 90 days to 365 days when filing a NOO. Therefore moving forward with making a recommendation to the M&C.  The committee voted to table the election of 2024 Officers.
