I. Call to order a. Present: Stacy Smith, Jackie Sherry, Joe Hill, Ezra Schley, Brian Santos, Courtney Medders, Carlos Pinto, Stacee Farrell, Theresa Bangert, Josh Podvin, Angela Huff, Adam Derby, James Alexander, Michelle Kelterborn, LaDarius Thomas b. Absent:, Dave Bow, Nathan Stuck, Lauren Earle, Jameson Glenn, Joe Chevrier II. Approval of March minutes a. Ezra motions, James seconds, all in favor, none opposed III. Treasurer’s report a. Sent via email before meeting (attached) b. Terrapin Event i. No percentage, we never asked ii. Did some informal follow up and Terrapin was happy iii. Stacee may bring by some yard signs and a small thank you c. Grant income discussion d. Approval i. James motion, LaDarius seconds, all in favor, none opposed IV. Executive Director’s Report a. Handed out (attached) b. Snapshot was emailed c. Busy time for the office! d. Green Life Event i. Awards given out on behalf of the board - Citizen and BB of the year, Adopt a Highway group of the year ii. Great way to celebrate those in our community who go above and beyond in sustainability e. International Compost Awareness Week (next week) i. 28 schools got books donated by the board ii. Water bill has an insert with all of the events f. Revenue and expenditures (attached) g. Request for funds i. Early but have to plan for tree planting with GDOT ii. About $2,000 for about 8 crape myrtles 1. Theresa motions, Brian seconds, all in favor, none opposed V. Committee Meetings a. Business and Industry (Michelle reporting) i. BBM going well and want to try to leverage that 1. Adam will start collecting our emails so he can follow up with those of us who don’t vote ii. 30, 60, 90 plan 1. ID, engage, host?, making sure we are staying connected, marketing resources to provide to them 2. Making sure it’s a 2-way relationship: free tickets to our events? How to recognize or stay involved and telling them about us before we ask iii. Do you need more rocks and folders? 1. Adam will check with Nathan 2. Plan to have a 3 month supply 3. Need to find the BBM yard sign to be able to provide them 4. Michelle and Adam will follow up with Nathan to see the plan for delivery iv. Jackie: how can we engage The Venue, the BBY? 1. Meet, retreat… keep thinking v. Emailing BBMs about board openings vi. BBM for May will close tonight b. Outreach PR i. Free branding giveaway - could enter this and possibly utilize this for the board 1. Calor Creative a. Have done a lot for lots of places around town b. Have annual “do good” giveaway - gives away a whole branding package 2. Could use this for BBM or DD? a. BBM may be interested in this! We will apply b. Courtney will complete the application ii. Follow up from SHelly with River Oaks 1. Working on part 2 of butterfly garden iii. How the board can help spread the word of the grant 1. We as board members could to places we know 2. Need/want a graphic easy to share 3. Committee could get out and about in the community to post, some ideas shared of where iv. Connecting to the small businesses for Adopt a Highway - Prince Ave. v. How to recognize citizens who participate in the litter cleanups or other events, the ones who don’t do it for recognition, to let them know we see c. Events i. We met the last meeting day for a subcommittee meeting to recap Keepin’ It Clean and Brewtiful 1. Recap notes attached with additional notes from today added ii. Dirty Dance 1. Need to decide a date a. August 24th or September 14th b. When is Groovy Nights? We think September 21 c. Football needs to be considered even though a home game d. August 24th 2. Committee needs to get the ball rolling on this a. Board needs to start getting things donated b. Stacy will share Google doc and we will get started!!! 3. Packages a. Consider having one package you have to be present to win b. Do board members get to win? c. Something to recognize those that stick it out for the event 4. Dance performances can start getting booked a. Cora for Zumba maybe? b. Theresa can ask Phillipino connection if they can do their traditional dance iii. Committee needs to meet and will invite staff to this meeting VI. Old Business a. DD date - done, see above, August 24 VII. New Business i. Nomination committee update, for officers for next year 1. Chair - LaDarius 2. VC - Ezra 3. Treasurer - Joe 4. Secretary - Courtney 5. Motion to approve the slate a. Angela motions, Michelle seconds, all in favor, none opposed ii. Board openings 1. Have Chico coming back, Jackie will reach out 2. LaDarius and Angela are doing 2nd term 3. So have 4 maybe openings a. Board members to recruit first b. Have to go wider if we cannot fill, gets a bit more complicated c. LaDarius, Courtney, Joe, Jackie - have people in mind 4. Do we have all of our defined one filled? a. Example the housing authority, solid waste, transit, public works 5. Jackie and Stacee will look at the bylaws pertaining to this iii. Litter cleanup date 1. Last was weekday before meeting a. Seemed like a rush to get here by 4 but lots of people available 2. Suggested weekend early for heat for summer iv. Recycling Division Partnership - Federal Inflation Reduction Act funding to help with neighborhood cleanups 1. Have to partner with non-profit 2. Want equipment to help with bulky waste, CHARM collection vehicle 3. What would KACCB’s role be a. Seems like promotion and maybe volunteers 4. This will help us continue to do the cleanups we have been that have been so successful if what the county has in the works in line for Mayor & Commission 5. Motion to continue, James, second Ezra, all in favor, none opposed VIII. Upcoming Events a. International Compost Awareness Week - May 4-11 i. KACCB selling bins at market ii. Storytime for littles as ACC library iii. Teen edible compost activity b. Litter Abatement Steering Committee - May 16, 11 - 1:30 i. Email Carlos if interested c. Tire Round Up – May 20-25 IX.
