The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County, Georgia met this date in special called
session. Roll call was conducted. Present: Mayor Pro Tem Fisher; Commissioners Davenport, Link,
Taylor, Wright, Myers, Thornton, and Hamby. Commissioner Johnson arrived at 6:14 p.m. Mayor Girtz
and Commissioner Culpepper were absent.
The purpose of the meeting was to conduct public hearing #2 on the proposed FY26 budget as
required by the Taxpayer Bill of Rights passed by the Georgia General Assembly in 1999; and consider
any other item in proper order.
Public Hearing #2 as required by the Taxpayer Bill of Rights
The following public input was received.
1. Patrick Sheridan – Supported Myers CDO and suggested increasing financial support for Transit.
2. Sheriff John Q. Williams - Supported funding for the Sheriff’s Office and expressed gratitude for
the financial investments given.
3. Don Fitzgerald – Discussed budget process and conflicts of interest.
4. Elise Stangle – Supported funding for the library.
A motion was made by Commissioner Link, seconded by Commissioner Taylor, to adjourn the Special
Called Session.
The Special Called Session ended at 6:17 p.m.

A. Roll call
B. Purpose of the meeting will be to conduct public hearing #2 on proposed FY26 budget as required by the
Taxpayer Bill of Rights passed by the Georgia General Assembly in 1999. The FY26 Mayor’s
Recommended Budget can be reviewed on Athens-Clarke County’s Web site at www.accgov.com/budget. A
budget summary section is available as part of the overall budget document.
C. Conduct public hearing. If you wish to address the Mayor and Commission on the recommended FY26
budget, please go to the podium and state your name and address. RULES OF THE COMMISSION
STATE THAT MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC MAY SPEAK ONCE DURING THIS PORTION OF THE AGENDA
FOR UP TO THREE MINUTES WITH A 30 SECOND REMINDER AT TWO AND A HALF MINUTES.
