ATHENS TOWN COUNCIL MINUTES January 6, 2015 The Town Council of the Town of Athens, WV, held its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 7:00 PM prevailing time, in Council Chambers at Town Hall, Athens, West Virginia. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. Council members present were Bard, Inghram, Lokay, Manzo, Pike, Smith and White. Action on the Minutes of December 2, 2014: Minutes of the December 16, 2014 were read. The minutes then were approved on a motion by Lokay, second by Pike. Approval of the Agenda: The agenda was approved with no additions. Citizen Input: Randy and Linda Hampton appeared before Council to discuss that two pole lights from the Dollar General store is interfering with the enjoyment of their property. They said an adjustment of the lights should remedy this issue. Bard will follow-up with Dollar General. Employee Reports Quarterly Departmental Reports: Representing the Audit Committee, Town Clerk Elizabeth Owen, informed Council of the results of the Town Audit. Officer C.T Lowe presented the Police/Safety report, which is attached. Old Business:  Arts and Beautification Committee – Mike Sizemore, artist, suggested to Council that the commissioned art be installed on a pedestal that can be moved. Manzo informed Council that the Athens Methodist Church was willing to have, but not necessarily wanting, the art on Church property. Bard will speak with the Methodist Church regarding the art not being placed at the Church; Mike Sizemore will work with the Arts and Beautification Committee to select a site within the town park (adjacent to the post office).  Economic Development- Manzo and the Committee have spoken with three new businesses and the possibility of these businesses to locate (or relocate) to Athens.  Report of Website Committee- Implementation – Committee selected and is testing Bluehost as the host site for the Town website. White has reserved Athens-WV.org. for use by the Town. New Business: Athens Town Council Minutes 12-16-2014   Town Garage [sic] Garbage Receptacles Possibilities- Mark Parsell will investigate options. Other Business, Mayoral reports, Council Member Input:  Bard announced that the Town Hall Ad Hoc Committee will meet 1-20-15 at 6:00 pm to review alternatives, notice will be posted.  Pike volunteered to meet with Robert Richardson to address electrical issues in the current Town Hall. Mark Parsell will address biological and structural issues of town Hall as practicable. Approval of current Bills (Action on Accounts) Pike motioned to approve bills, second by Lokay. Motion passed. Adjournment Inghram motioned to adjourn the meeting, White seconded.
