CITY OF BASTROP REGULAR BRIDGING BASTROP BOARD MEETING MINUTES ^ JtWETl 0,2025 Ju.ly The Bridging Bastrop met in Regular Meeting on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bastrop City Hall Council Chambers. 1311 Chestnut Street, Bastrop, Texas. CALL TO ORDER Chair Sheila Lowe called the Regular Bridging Bastrop Board meeting to order at 5:34 p.m. with a quorum present, 2. CITIZEN COMMENTS No comments were submitted. 3. ANNOUNCEMENTS 3A. Update and Discussion on Past Events: - [Way 17th - Bridging Neighbors Event in Bob Bryant Park - May 19th - Delgado Park Community Meeting City Manager Carillo reported that the proposed improvements will include shade coverings, benches, an accessible play area, and dedicated restrooms. - May 27th - Regular City Council Meeting - May 28th " Sit with Sylvia Evening Session at Film Alley - IVIay 29th - Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting Brid^Baftrop Board Agenda July 10, 2015 Pa^e i of 4 - June 7fh - Special Mayoral Runoff Election -June 7th- PRIDE Weekend - June 10th - Regular City Council Meeting - June 12th - Runoff Election Canvass and Swearing-in of Mayor ishmael Harris - June 21st - Bastrop Juneteenth Celebration on Main Street and in Fisherman's Park - June 24th - Regular City Council Meeting June 25th - Sit with Sylvia Morning Session at City Hall - June 27th & 28th - City Council Retreat in Rockport, TX - June 28th - Pet & Pal Parade, Freedom on Wheels, North Main Game, and Big Bang! Celebration - July 8th - Regular City Council Meeting - July 9th - African American Cultural District Town Hall at City Hall starting at 6:30 pm Great turnout and next year's event could be moved to Thursday due to community feedback. 3 B. UEidate and Discussion on URcorm^ - July 17th - Get Involved! Bastrop (Community Volunteer and Resource Fair) at the Convention Center from 6:00-8:00 pm - July 19th " Corvette Invasion Event at the Convention Center from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm The Board also discussed two upcoming events: the Music in the Museum event, scheduled from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and the Backpack Drive, which will conclude with backpack distribution on August 9, 2025. Additional details about both events will be shared as they become available." July 22nd - Regular City Council Meeting July 29th - Aug 2nd - Bastrop Homecoming & Rodeo at Mayfest Park. Parade on Aug 2 in Downtown Bastrop at 10:00 am - Aug 12th - Regular City Councif Meeting - Every 3rd Saturday - Music in the Museum from 12 - 2 pm (Free Admission) 3C, Additional Announcements and/or Events from individual Bridging Bastrop Board Members. Bribing Saitrop Board Ageinfa Ju!y 10,2015 Pa^ 2 of 4 4. REPORTS 4A. Receive an update on the Bridging Bastrop Board Facebook page. The Board discussed strategies to increase traffic and visibility for its Facebook page. Chair Lowe suggested exploring ways to integrate content from the City of Bastrop's Facebook page into the Bridging Bastrop Board's page. 4B. Receive a report on the surveys collected at the Bridging Neighbors Event held on May 17th. Chair Lowe shared the results of the survey with the Board and identified some areas for improvement. 5. ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION 5A. Consider and act to approve the Bridging Bastrop Board Meeting minutes from the Thursday, May 15, 2025, Regular Meeting. MOTION: Board Member Nancy Wood moved to approve the Bridging Bastrop Board minutes from the May 15, 2025 Regular Meeting. Board Member Karen Knight seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. 58. Review, discussion, and possible action on the May and June Employment Records from the City of Bastrop Human Resources Department. Human Resources Executive Assistant Zana Jones gave an overview of the City's employment stats. 5C. Discuss and take action on the decisions made at the June 5th Bridging Bastrop Workshop regarding the Work Plan amendments and the Fiscal Year 2026 Work Plan. MOTION: Board Member Nancy Wood moved to table this item to the next Bridging Bastrop Board meeting. Board Member Karen Knight seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. 5D. Discuss and review the demographics of the City of Bastrop Boards and Commissions and take possible action on how the Bridging Bastrop Board can assist with the promotion of vacancies. The Board emphasized the need for greater balance in terms of gender representation between advisory and non-advisory Boards. 5E. Discussion and possible action to advance the Bridging Bastrop Work Plan initiative focused on providing equitable financial education and homeownership opportunities to Bastrop residents across diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, and also veteran services. The Board discussed inviting a mortgage broker to speak about homeownership and share tips on how to make the most of the process. A planning meeting may be hefd in August to organize the workshop, which is tentatively scheduled for January. 5F. Discuss items from the May 19th Delgado Park Community Meeting and take possible action on how the Bridging Bastrop Board can support the Parks and Recreation Board. ADJOURNMENT Upon receiving a motion from Board Member Nancy Wood and a second from Board Member Karen Knight to adjourn, the July 10, 2025 regular Meeting was adjourned at 6:58 p.m. without objection.
