Pursuant to the Texas Government Code, Chapter 551, the City of Bastrop Parks Board will meet on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at
6: 00 pm at the Bastrop City Hall, 1311 Chestnut Street, Bastrop, Texas, to consider the following matters, to wit:
1. Call meeting to order.
2. Roll call and confirmation of a quorum of Parks Board members present.
3.
Approve Minutes from May 14, 2015, Parks Board meeting.
4. Citizen comments. ( Persons may address the Parks Board on any issue not otherwise listed on this Agenda. Please
observe the time limit of three ( 3) minutes. In accordance with the State of Texas Open Meeting Act, the Parks Board
members may not comment, deliberate, nor take action on such citizen comments/ statements during this meeting.)
5. Special Events in City Parks for update, discussion, and possible action:
a. Library' s Opening of the Summer Reading Program in Bob Bryant Park on June 06, 2015.
b. Movie in the Park hosted by Parks & Rec in Fisherman' s Park on June 13, 2015.
c. Duck Derby in Fisherman' s Park and Old Iron Bridge on June 13, 2015.
d. Juneteenth Celebration in Kerr Park on June 20, 2015.
e. Patriotic Festival in Fisherman' s Park on July 03, 2015.
f. Movie in the Park hosted by Parks & Rec in Bob Bryant Park on July 11, 2015.
g. Library' s Closing of the Summer Reading Program in Fisherman' s Park on July 25, 2015.
h. Bastrop River Rally in Fisherman' s Park on July 26, 2015.
L Bastrop Homecoming & Rodeo in Mayfest Park on July 28 through August 02, 2015.
6. Parks Director Report on items for update, discussion, and possible action.
a. Monthly overview of YMCA activities.
b. Monthly overview of maintenance, repairs, and projects.
7. Youth Committee report on items for update, discussion, and possible action.
8. Old business items for update, discussion, and possible action.
a. Final draft of updated Master Parks Plan.
b. Update on skateboard park progress.
9. New business items for update, discussion, and possible action.
a. None.
10. Adjourn.

1. Call meeting to order.
a. Meeting was called to order at 6: 04 pm.
2. Roll call and confirmation of a quorum of Parks Board members present.

3. Approve Minutes from May 14, 2015, Parks Board meeting.
a. Todd motioned to approve the Minutes, and Betty seconded the motion. Motion carried.
4. Citizen comments. ( Persons may address the Parks Board on any issue not otherwise listed on this Agenda. Please
observe the time limit of three ( 3) minutes. In accordance with the State of Texas Open Meeting Act, the Parks Board
members may not comment, deliberate, nor take action on such citizen comments/ statements during this meeting.)
a. Frank May, who helps maintain the Nature Trail, had questions regarding the city' s protocol for
closing city parks during times of floods. He was informed that Fisherman' s Park is closed when
the flood waters rise 11 feet.

1) Todd motioned to include a list of four prioritized goals to be included in the update. Josh
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
a) Skateboard park.
b) Adequate funding to address current parks infrastructure ( safety, lighting, restrooms),
staffing, and budget requirements.
c) Hike and bike trails.
d) Indoor recreation center/ sports complex.

9. New business items for update, discussion, and possible action.
a. Mark Gracey resigned due to declining health issues.
b. Betty made a motion to change the July meeting date from the 2nd to the 91". Nancy seconded
the motion. Motion carried.
10. Adjourn.
a. Betty motioned to adjourn at 7: 10 pm. Mark seconded motion. Motion carried.

Youth Committee Report: June 2015•
1. Social Media:
We have 131 likes on Facebook.
We created a Twitter account
2. Grant Application:
We filled out the City of Bastrop 2016 Community Support Application for
the shade project, and turned it in.
3. Community Garden:
We volunteered at the community gardens last Saturday and cleaned up
the front two beds.
We plan to work more with YMCA to improve the gardens.
