MEMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Chris Dopp and Calvin Hardin MEMBERS ABSENT: Commissioner Chris McCoy STAFF PRESENT: Victoria Houser, City Clerk: Jonathan Baber, Deputy City Attorney: Michelle Hull, Human Resource Director: Matt Beauchamp, Battalion Chief: Chelsea Sears, HR Generalist OTHERS PRESENT: CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Dopp called the meeting to order at 4:16 PM. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairperson Dopp noted the first order of business was to approve the June 27, 2022 Civil Service Commission minutes. Comm. Hardin, supported by Comm. Dopp, made a motion to approve the Civil Service Commission meeting minutes of June 27, 2022. All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS: There were none. REPORTS: There were no reports. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: There was none. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Removal of Candidate #6, Jacob Sieloff, from the 2021 Entry Level Firefighter Eligibility List Clerk Houser noted Candidate #6, Jacob Sieloff, has been contacted numerous times regarding employment with the Battle Creek Fire Department, but has not responded to communications. Michelle Hull, Human Resource Director, informed the Commission that Mr. Sieloff communicated verbally to the HR staff that he had taken employment elsewhere and was no longer interested in working with the City of Battle Creek Fire Department. Ms. Hull noted Mr. Sieloff had been sent several emails requesting confirmation in writing, but had not responded. Comm. Hardin, supported by Comm. Dopp, made a motion to remove candidate #6, Jacob Sieloff, from the 2021 Entry Level Fire Fighter Eligibility List. All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved. 2. Certification of Candidates #11 - #15 on the 2021 Entry Level Firefighter Eligibility List (Casey Smith, David Wilcox, Dylan Lydy, Owen Gedler and Travis Sweet) Comm. Hardin, supported by Comm. Dopp, made a motion to Certify Candidates #11 - #15 on the 2021 Entry Level Firefighter Eligibility List (Casey Smith, David Wilcox, Dylan Lydy, Owen Gedler and Travis Sweet). All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved. PUBLIC COMMENT: There were no public comments. COMMISSION COMMENT: There were no commission comments. NEXT MEETING: August 22, 2022 at 4:00 PM.
