MEMBERS PRESENT: Commissioners Chris Dopp, Calvin Hardin and Chris McCoy MEMBERS ABSENT: STAFF PRESENT: Alicia Greene, Deputy City Clerk; Bill Beaty, Fire Chief OTHERS PRESENT: CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Dopp called the meeting to order at 4:02 PM. INTRODUCTION: Chief Beaty introduced himself to the Civil Service Commission. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairperson Dopp noted the first order of business was to approve the September 26, 2022 Civil Service Commission minutes. Comm. McCoy, supported by Comm. Hardin, made a motion to approve the Civil Service Commission meeting minutes of September 26, 2022. All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS: There were none. REPORTS: There were no reports. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: There was none. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Authorizing the City Clerk to initiate the Training Officer Promotional Testing Process Comm. Hardin, supported by Comm. McCoy, made a motion to initiate the Training Officer Promotional Testing Process. All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved. 2. Certify Candidates #16 through #20 on the “2021 Firefighter Eligibility List” (Cody Richardson, Jason Alvarez, Collin Demanskowski, Tristan Devries and James Hickey) Comm. McCoy, supported by Comm. Hardin, made a motion to certify candidates #16 through #20 on the 2021 Firefighter Eligibility List. All in favor, none opposed. Motion approved. PUBLIC COMMENT: There were no public comments. COMMISSION COMMENT: Comm. McCoy stressed the need for diversity in the Fire Department in hiring practices. NEXT MEETING: January 23, 2023 at 4:00 PM.
