DANGEROUS BUILDINGS HEARING MINUTES June 14, 2017 1:00 P.M. CITY HALL 10 N. DIVISION STREET COMMISSION CHAMBERS 3RD FLOOR – ROOM 301 BATTLE CREEK MI 49014 1. Call to Order: 2. Roll Call: Carman Hamilton 3. Staff Members Present: Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector; Jason Francisco, Code Compliance Manager; Lisa Silkworth, Secretary 4. Additions/Deletions to the Agenda: none 5. Approval of Minutes: Carman Hamilton approved the minutes from the May 10, 2017 meeting 6. New Business: a. 35 Elm (House) Issue#EN17-00349 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property Owner, Jennifer Smith, present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, noted the violations were noted during a police call and the property has no utilities. Ms. Smith stated she would like to make the repairs but cannot at this time. Mr. Wilkinson explained the permitting process. Carman Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring it into compliance. Affirmed. b. 91 Frisbie (House) Issue#EN17-03456 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, Susan Hale, present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, noted the property was damaged by fire. Mrs. Hale stated the property will be demolished and rebuilt. Mr. Wilkinson recommended affirming the property as a Dangerous Building. Carman Hamilton affirmed the property Dangerous Buildings Hearing June 14, 2017 Page 2 of 3 as a Dangerous Building granting thirty days to bring it into compliance. Affirmed. c. 28 Seedorf (House) Issue#EN17-03384 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, not present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, stated the property has been vacant, lacks maintenance, and lacks utilities. Carman Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring the property into compliance. Affirmed. d. 225 South Ave (House) Issue#EN17-03460 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, not present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, stated the property has been vacant, lacks maintenance, and lacks utilities. Carman Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring the property into compliance. Affirmed. e. 236 South Ave (House) Issue#EN17-03459 Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, not present. Don Wilkinson, Building Inspector, stated the property has been vacant, lacks maintenance, and lacks utilities. Carman Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring the property into compliance. Affirmed. 7. Public Comments: none 8.
