DANGEROUS BUILDINGS HEARING MINUTES July 13, 2022 1:00 P.M. City Hall 10 Division St N rd 3 Floor Commission Chambers Room 301 Battle Creek MI 49014 1. Call to Order: 1:02 pm 2. Roll Call: Carman Hamilton, Dangerous Building Hearing Officer 3. Staff Members Present: Richard Bolek, Chief Building Official; Don Wilkinson, Building Official; Angela Hubbard, Secretary 4. Additions/Deletions to the Agenda: Remove 166 Grenville 5. Approval of Minutes: Mr. Hamilton approved the minutes from the May 11, 2022 meeting. Approved 6. New Business: a. 166 Grenville St (House) Issue #EN22-05565 Fire Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Mr. Bolek, Chief Building Official, has been in contact with property owner. Removed from agenda. b. 134 Lathrop Ave (House) Issue #EN22-05805 Fire Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner, Carol Zamora, present. Don Wilkinson, Building Official, stated that the enforcement was opened due to a fire in May. He stated that the property is in disrepair and uninhabitable. In its current condition, Mr. Wilkinson recommended affirming it as a Dangerous Building. Ms. Zamora stated she has hired Mainstone Construction to demolish the house, and that he is in the process of obtaining permits and equipment. The cost of the demo is approximately $20, 000. Mr. Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Dangerous Buildings Hearing July 13, 2022 Page 2 of 2 Building and granted thirty days to bring it into compliance. Affirmed c. 123 Spring St (House) Issue #EN22-06638 Fire Building Inspector: Don Wilkinson Property owner not present. Mr. Wilkinson, Building Official, stated the property was heavily damaged by fire and he has had no contact with the owners. In its current condition, Mr. Wilkinson recommended affirming it as a Dangerous Building. Mr. Hamilton affirmed the property as a Dangerous Building and granted thirty days to bring it into compliance. Affirmed. 7. Public Comments: none 8. Board and Staff Members Comments: none 9.
